Russia strongly criticized the EU's plans toward Moscow.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes that Europe is once again trying to escalate tensions into a war with Russia.
According to RIA Novosti, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated at a press conference following the ASEAN events on July 11th that the rhetoric of Germany, France, and the UK indicates that European leaders want war with Russia.
"The recent statements and actions of Berlin, Paris, and London show that the current political class, who have come to power in these and several other countries, have forgotten the lessons of history, forgotten the conclusions that the whole world has learned from these historical lessons," Foreign Minister Lavrov said.
Lavrov emphasized that the current European leadership is ready to push Europe once again into a war that is no longer a hybrid conflict with Moscow.
Earlier, on July 10, speaking at ASEAN, Foreign Minister Lavrov stated that Russia would consider the militarization process taking place in Europe in all areas as part of its plan. Lavrov also called claims that Russia poses any threat to Europe completely meaningless.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg, citing sources close to the matter on July 11, reported that the European Commission is ready to offer Slovakia assurances in exchange for preventing a new package of sanctions against Russia.
"Slovakia is seeking concessions on the EU's plan to remove Russian gas from its gas supply. The bloc's executive branch is willing to offer the country some guarantees if it lifts its veto," Bloomberg reported.
Furthermore, Greece, Malta, and Cyprus have so far been reluctant to support lowering the ceiling on Russian oil prices without the backing of the G7 countries, including the United States.
