According to TASS, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that he is counting on "light at the end of the tunnel" in resolving the conflict in Ukraine with the continuation of direct negotiations between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations.

“If the talks continue, there will be light at the end of the tunnel,” the Turkish foreign minister told NTV.

According to him, Fidan, the conflict in Ukraine has "very serious regional and global consequences". "In addition to the humanitarian tragedy, we are facing a situation that will lead to an even larger war and division on the international stage. This is a difficult and expensive war. A war in which everything except nuclear weapons will be used," Mr. Fidan said.

The Turkish foreign minister added that, during the third round of talks in Istanbul, the conditions under which the leaders' meeting could be held were discussed.

"In principle, an agreement was reached on holding the summit in Türkiye, but the delegations at the talks have a lot of work to do because of differences in positions. Now, when they are talking, I see a desire to find a compromise. If this continues, I believe there will be a temporary solution," the Turkish foreign minister believes.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev said that the end of the conflict with Russia “will be the political end” for leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

“For Zelensky and his team, who went to the elections in 2019 under the slogan of resolving the conflict with Russia, and then were actually the instigators of fighting with Russia, this agreement now looks like the end – at least politically. They understand that returning to the peaceful track would mean the collapse of their entire power,” Kosachev said in an interview.

In addition, the politician reminded, after the conflict ends, Ukraine will have to "pay its debt".

"70% of European aid delivered to Kiev was issued in the form of loans. There was more free aid from the US under Biden, but now there is no free aid at all. One way or another, Ukraine is in debt. And they will have to give it away or the country will go bankrupt. Mr. Zelensky does not want to do that. He understands that he will remain president as long as the conflict continues. And it is he, in my opinion, who has become the main obstacle to reaching peace agreements," said the Deputy Speaker of the Russian Federation Council.
