Month commemorating the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd: Hanoi halts road and sidewalk digging until September 5th.
Hanoi will temporarily suspend all road and sidewalk digging activities from August 1st to September 5th, 2025, to ensure traffic safety, reduce congestion, and minimize environmental pollution during the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd.
In preparation for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, the Hanoi Department of Construction has issued an urgent notice to temporarily suspend road and sidewalk excavation work throughout the city. This decision is effective from today, August 1st, and will last until September 5th, 2025.
Exceptions apply only to emergency response projects or key projects licensed by the City People's Committee and the Department of Construction.

The Department of Construction has requested the People's Committees of wards and communes, and the Infrastructure Investment Project Management Boards to strengthen supervision and urge contractors to accelerate construction progress. All items and packages must be completed, the site restored, and sanitation cleaned up before August 10, 2025, to ensure traffic order and environmental protection.
The Department of Construction has requested the City Police and the City Inspectorate to coordinate in inspecting and strictly handling violations by investors, project management boards, and contractors who do not comply with regulations. Infrastructure management units such as the Infrastructure Maintenance Board and the City's Technical Infrastructure Management Center are also required to conduct thorough inspections and report any cases exceeding their authority to the Department of Construction.
The People's Committees of wards and communes are tasked with directing the Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board, investors, and contractors to accelerate the progress of licensed projects. These units must complete project components, clear the site, ensure traffic safety, environmental hygiene, and urban aesthetics, while complying with the order to temporarily halt road and sidewalk digging from August 1st to September 5th, 2025.
The temporary suspension of road and sidewalk excavation work is an effort by Hanoi to reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution, and to create favorable conditions for people during major holidays. This decision also contributes to improving urban aesthetics and preparing for important events in the capital.
