Nghe An directs proactive measures to respond to heavy rain, risks of flooding, flash floods, and landslides.
With heavy rain forecast in the coming days, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province has issued Document No. 173/VP-PCTT, directing proactive measures to respond to heavy rain, the risk of flooding, flash floods and landslides.
According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 15 to the night of August 16, the Northeast region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 70 - 150mm, locally very heavy rain over 300mm.
Warning: From August 17 to the night of August 18, the Northeast region, from Thanh Hoa to Quang Tri, will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally very heavy rain with common rainfall of 50 - 120mm, in some places over 300mm.

To proactively respond to heavy rains, risks of flooding, flash floods, and landslides, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense requests the People's Committees of wards and communes; relevant agencies and units to immediately deploy the following contents:
Closely monitor, forecast, warn, and promptly inform about flood developments to proactively deploy response measures.
Direct the inspection, review, and preparation of plans to ensure the safety of reservoirs and downstream areas, especially small hydroelectric reservoirs, important irrigation reservoirs, and full reservoirs; arrange permanent forces to operate and regulate and be ready to handle possible situations.
Organize screening and evacuation of people, vehicles and property from dangerous areas, especially areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, inundation to ensure the safety of people's lives and property and state property.
Control, guide, and divert traffic, especially through tunnels, spillways, and deeply flooded areas. Propagate and instruct people on safety skills and risk reduction during floods; strictly prohibit people from fishing, collecting firewood, etc. on rivers, streams, downstream of lakes, and dams during floods to avoid human casualties.
Organize on-duty seriously, regularly synthesize and report on natural disaster developments and damage to the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense.
