The US has received detailed information on the Russia-Ukraine negotiating position.
US Vice President JDVance said the US had received full information about the negotiating stance from Russia and Ukraine, while emphasizing that Europe bears most of the security responsibility for Kiev.

According to TASS on August 21, Vice President JD Vance said that the United States has received specific details about the negotiating positions of Russia and Ukraine and is discussing them.
"We finally have the details. We're working on it, but we don't know everything yet," the US Vice President told Fox News on August 20 (Washington time).
"Ukraine wants to know that Russia will not attack its territory again. They want to ensure their territorial integrity in the future. Russia wants certain territories, most of which they control, but some of which they do not. That is the purpose of the negotiations," Mr. Vance said.
Meanwhile, Politico quoted a reliable source saying that US Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby informed NATO allies that the US side will only play a minimal role in providing any security guarantees to Ukraine.
According to Politico, this becomes "one of the clearest signals yet that Europe will have to shoulder the burden of maintaining lasting peace in Kiev".
The article pointed out that Deputy Secretary Colby made this position clear in consultations with military officials from other NATO countries. He gave this response to requests from European military officials to clarify "what military and air forces the US could provide to support a peace agreement with Russia." Politico emphasized that after the consultations, America's NATO allies were concerned that President Donald Trump "will rely on Europe to ensure lasting peace."
One of Politico's sources from NATO diplomats, when talking about security guarantees for Ukraine, noted: "Clearly, Europe will be the one to implement this in practice. The US will not fulfill any full obligations."
