Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh inspected the preparation for drainage in Vinh area and storm response at Vissai Port.
On the morning of August 25, comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province inspected the response to storm No. 5. Accompanying him were leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches.
At Vissai Port, in heavy rain and dark clouds, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the port operator to proactively deploy safety measures, especially the loading and unloading system, warehouses and mooring facilities.


Next, at Truong Vinh ward, the working group inspected two drainage pumping stations serving the inner-city wards. Of which, Ben Thuy pumping station No. 3 has a capacity of 20,000 m³/hour, while the southern drainage pumping station has 6 machines, with a total capacity of 56,000 m³/hour.

Directly inspecting the scene, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the operating unit, technical team and workers to be on duty regularly, continuously monitor the water level to operate flexibly and promptly, to ensure drainage for the Vinh urban area, especially when storm No. 5 can cause heavy rain, risk of widespread flooding. At the same time, pumping stations need to fully prepare backup plans, ready to operate in case of power outage.


The working delegation also inspected storm prevention and control work at the drainage canal system in Hung Nguyen commune.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the requirement for local authorities and construction units to fully prepare materials, means, and human resources according to the "4 on-site" motto, ready to handle and promptly weld if an incident occurs.


In Thanh Vinh ward, comrade Le Hong Vinh inspected building C6 of Quang Trung Apartment Complex. This is a project that has been built for more than 50 years, posing many potential safety risks when a strong storm hits.


Previously, on the afternoon and evening of August 24, Thanh Vinh ward authorities completed the evacuation of more than 1,000 people living in this apartment complex to safe shelters.


The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the locality's efforts in promptly implementing the evacuation plan, and at the same time requested to continue closely monitoring the situation to ensure absolute safety of people's lives and property.
