Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, Le Hong Vinh, inspected the preparations for drainage in the Vinh area and storm response at Vissai Port.
On the morning of August 25th, Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Head of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of Nghe An province - inspected the response to Typhoon No. 5. He was accompanied by leaders from several relevant departments and agencies.
At Vissai Port, amidst heavy rain and dense dark clouds, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the port's operating unit to proactively implement safety measures, especially for the loading and unloading system, warehouses, and mooring of vessels.

Next, in Truong Vinh ward, the working group inspected two drainage pumping stations serving the inner-city wards. These included Ben Thuy pumping station No. 3 with a capacity of 20,000 m³/hour, and the southern drainage pumping station with 6 pumps, totaling 56,000 m³/hour.

During a direct on-site inspection, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the operating unit, technical team, and workers to be constantly on duty, continuously monitoring water levels to ensure flexible and timely operation, thereby guaranteeing drainage for the Vinh urban area, especially as Typhoon No. 5 may cause heavy rain and widespread flooding. At the same time, pumping stations need to prepare adequate contingency plans and be ready to operate in case of power outages.

The delegation also inspected storm prevention and control work at the drainage canal system in Hung Nguyen commune.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized the need for local authorities and construction units to fully prepare materials, equipment, and personnel according to the "four on-site" principle, ready to handle and repair any incidents promptly if they occur.

In Thanh Vinh ward, Comrade Le Hong Vinh inspected building C6 in the Quang Trung apartment complex. This building, constructed over 50 years ago, poses many potential safety risks when strong storms hit.

Earlier, on the afternoon and evening of August 24th, the authorities of Thanh Vinh ward completed the evacuation of more than 1,000 residents of this apartment complex to safe shelters.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the local authorities' efforts in promptly implementing the relocation plan, and requested continued close monitoring of the situation to ensure the absolute safety of people's lives and property.
