Nghe An's education sector makes breakthroughs, affirming its position among the top in the country.

The success achieved in the past school year is the sweet fruit of the efforts and determination of the entire education sector in Nghe An; the sacrifice and dedication of teachers; and the striving and progress of students… At the same time, it is the clearest evidence of the innovative leadership of the Department of Education and Training with many groundbreaking solutions.

Breaking through with many outstanding achievements.

The 2024-2025 academic year marks the end of the first cycle of textbook replacement and the first year of implementing examinations according to the 2018 General Education Program, the most important of which is the 2025 High School Graduation Examination.

With the new exam format including questions assessing competency, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training is paying special attention to collaborating with schools in teaching and exam preparation.

Prior to this exam, the Department established exam preparation counseling teams that visited all 91 high schools to provide advice on developing exam preparation plans, determining appropriate content, duration, and methods of exam preparation based on student needs and subjects, and how to compile competency-based assessment questions.

In addition to organizing free in-person mock exams, to help students familiarize themselves with the new exam format, the Department has developed an online mock exam system (LMS) based on the new exam structure, with over 10,000 questions for students to practice in all subjects.

The 2024-2025 school year will also be the second year that Nghe An province has launched this initiative.The emulation movement "90 days of determination to achieve high results in the 2025 high school graduation exam"; aiming to concretize the "Good Teaching - Good Learning" movement and the "Department helping department, school helping school, subject helping subject" program.

Set against the backdrop of the entire education sector implementing Circular 29, the launch of this movement is of practical significance as all schools throughout the province have volunteered to provide free tutoring and supplementary instruction to students in thousands of sessions.

During the implementation process, the quality of education is considered a key issue for schools. Mr. Ho Hong Son, Principal of Hoang Mai High School, stated: "We believe that the exam results are not just a number, but also a commitment and a strong motivation to drive each teacher to strive continuously."

The implementation of the "90 Days of High-Achieving Results in the High School Graduation Exam" emulation movement plays an important role, serving as a "guiding principle" and concretizing the directives of higher authorities into practical actions.

Throughout the implementation process, we prioritized innovation. The deployment of emulation movements was closely linked to the urgent need for innovation in teaching methods, fostering creativity within each subject group to develop effective review models that are relevant to practical situations.

With the involvement of the entire education sector and the efforts of the schools, this year's exam season marks the outstanding performance of Nghe An's education sector, which for the first time has risen to first place nationwide in both methods, based on average score and median score.

Of these, eight subjects ranked in the top 10 nationwide in terms of average scores: Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, History, Geography, English, and Agricultural Technology. Nghe An also ranked among the top 10 provinces and cities with the most perfect scores (10/10) and many candidates with high university entrance exam scores nationwide. This is also the result of five years of persistent implementation of the "quality assurance" model, with Nghe An being the pioneering province to implement it first in the country.

Alongside their overall academic achievements, in the past school year, students from Nghe An province continued to make their mark on the international stage, winning 7 medals in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Russian, including 4 Gold medals and 3 Silver medals. Among these, two prestigious Gold medals were won at the International Physics and Mathematics Olympiads by Nguyen The Quan and Vo Trong Khai.

This is the most brilliant achievement of Nghe An's education sector in the last 10 years. At the National Excellent Student Examination, students from Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School also excelled, winning 96 awards, including 9 first prizes. Students at all levels have won numerous awards and medals at national competitions and tournaments, demonstrating the harmonious development between advanced and general education.

Affirming the status of a land of learning

In addition to its outstanding achievements in education, during the past academic year, Nghe An province continued to be a pioneer and leader nationwide in many areas. Notably, it advised on the issuance of a specific provincial policy to support ethnic minority boarding schools; advised the Prime Minister on the merger of the College of Education and renaming it Nghe An University; and coordinated with the Provincial Police to quickly and effectively pilot the model of "Education on legal compliance awareness and life skills in schools".

The sector has also integrated and implemented the major policies of the Party and the State in the task of fundamentally and comprehensively reforming education and training in the province... Thereby, affirming its pioneering position in implementing the major policies of the Party, the State, and the province on breakthrough development and fundamental and comprehensive reform of education and training.

Entering the 2025-2026 academic year, the first year of integrated and synchronized implementation of major policies of the Party and State aimed at fundamentally and comprehensively reforming and sustainably developing education and training in Nghe An province; in the context of implementing a two-tiered local government system; therefore, alongside the advantages, there are also many difficulties and challenges.

The impact of Typhoon No. 3 also caused significant damage to many schools in the province. In this difficult situation, the entire Education sector of Nghe An province joined hands to overcome the storm and flood damage with many meaningful and practical actions, helping schools initially overcome difficulties, quickly stabilize classrooms, and ensure that the teaching plans of the schools were not interrupted.

Setting forth directions, tasks, and solutions for this academic year, the Nghe An Education Department has identified the theme as "Modernization, breakthrough development, innovation, sustainable connection, and readiness to enter a new era of development." Therefore, with the motto "the school is the foundation, teachers are the driving force, and students are the center," the entire sector will continue to focus on effectively implementing the Education Development Strategy. Simultaneously, it will promote the application of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in teaching and learning; creating strong momentum to improve the quality of education and training, meeting the requirements of development and integration in the new era.
