While going to the Lam River to cut grass to feed the fish, a man in Nghe An was unfortunately attacked by a swarm of bees, leading to his death.

On the afternoon of September 9, Mr. Bui Thanh Dung - Vice Chairman of Anh Son Commune People's Committee confirmed that a man had just died from a bee sting in the commune.

The victim was Pham Van Nguyen (born 1974), residing in Kim Nhan 1 village, Anh Son commune.

Mr. Tran Quang Trung, head of village 1, Kim Nhan 1 village, said that in the morning of the same day, Mr. N. rowed his boat to the edge of Lam River, about 2km from his house, to cut grass for his fish. By noon, when he had not returned, Mr. N.'s wife worriedly went to look for him. At the riverbank, she discovered that her husband's boat was still anchored but he was nowhere to be seen. While walking along the riverbank, she was shocked to find Mr. N. lying motionless near a beehive, with many stings on his body.

Immediately, she called for help from the villagers, took Mr. N. home and called an ambulance to take him to Anh Son Medical Center for emergency treatment. However, due to being stung by so many bees, Mr. N. did not survive.

Mr. Trung said that Mr. N.’s family is near-poor, with three children, two of whom are still in school. His father is over 90 years old and needs care. Currently, the villagers are helping the family with the funeral arrangements.

After the incident, the People's Committee of Anh Son commune visited, expressed condolences and supported the victim's family with 3 million VND.

The commune authorities also advise people to be careful when going to work, especially during this season when bees often build nests in the bushes along the river and fields. People should avoid getting close to beehives and should not wear brightly colored or sweaty clothes because they can easily agitate the bees. In case of an unfortunate bee attack, quickly find a way to cover your face and go to a medical facility for timely treatment.
