While mowing the lawn, a man in Anh Son was stung to death by bees.
While cutting grass by the Lam River to feed his fish, a man in Nghe An province was unfortunately attacked by a swarm of bees, leading to his death.
On the afternoon of September 9th, Mr. Bui Thanh Dung, Vice Chairman of the Anh Son Commune People's Committee, confirmed that a man in the commune had died from a bee sting.
The victim was Mr. Pham Van Nguyen (born in 1974), residing in Kim Nhan 1 village, Anh Son commune.
Mr. Tran Quang Trung, head of Hamlet 1, Kim Nhan 1 village, said that on the morning of the same day, Mr. N. rowed his boat to the edge of the Lam River, about 2km from his house, to cut grass for his fish farm. Around noon, when he hadn't returned, his wife became worried and went to look for him. At the riverbank, she found her husband's boat still anchored, but he was nowhere to be seen. Walking along the riverbank, she was shocked to find Mr. N. lying motionless near a beehive, with many bee stings on his body.
Immediately, she called for help from the villagers, who took Mr. N. home and called for an ambulance to take him to Anh Son Medical Center for emergency treatment. However, due to the numerous bee stings, Mr. N. did not survive.
Mr. Trung said that Mr. N.'s family is classified as near-poor, with three children and two grandchildren still in school. His father is over 90 years old and needs care. Currently, villagers are helping the family with the funeral arrangements for the victim.
Following the incident, the People's Committee of Anh Son commune visited the victim's family to offer condolences and provided them with 3 million VND in financial assistance.
The local authorities also advised people to be cautious when working, especially during this season when bees often build nests in bushes along rivers and fields. People should avoid getting close to beehives and should not wear brightly colored or sweaty clothes as these can easily agitate the bees. In the unfortunate event of a bee attack, people should quickly cover their faces and go immediately to a medical facility for prompt treatment.
