According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 8 months of 2025, Vietnam exported about 1.2 million tons of coffee, down nearly 10% compared to the same period last year. However, thanks to the average export price of coffee increasing sharply to approximately 3,100 USD/ton, the total value reached more than 3.7 billion USD, up nearly 15%, the highest in many years.

In addition to exports, the domestic market also raises the level of Vietnamese coffee. With a population of over 100 million, the average coffee consumption is currently at 2.5 - 3 kg/person/year. This figure is much lower than in Europe (6 - 8 kg/person/year), but the growth rate is considered quite fast, opening up great opportunities for businesses.

Experts predict that global coffee demand, especially in the US and Europe, will increase sharply at the end of the year thanks to the holiday season and recovering consumption. This promises to continue to create momentum for Vietnamese coffee prices to remain high, while affirming the increasingly important position of the coffee industry in the world market.

International media reported that Coca Cola is reviewing its strategy for the Costa Coffee chain, even considering selling the brand.

Costa Coffee was bought by Coca Cola in 2018 for more than $5 billion, owning about 4,000 stores globally, mainly in the UK and Ireland. Although it was expected to help Coca Cola expand into the coffee sector, business results have not met expectations, forcing the group to consider adjustment plans.

In Vietnam, the owner of Highlands Coffee has just acquired the Paris Baguette brand, expanding the F&B ecosystem towards product diversity. Previously, Golden Gate acquired The Coffee House, showing that the wave of mergers and acquisitions in the industry is getting stronger.
