According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first eight months of 2025, Vietnam exported approximately 1.2 million tons of coffee, a decrease of nearly 10% compared to the same period last year. However, thanks to a sharp increase in the average export price of coffee to approximately US$3,100 per ton, the total value reached over US$3.7 billion, an increase of nearly 15%, the highest in many years.

Besides exports, the domestic market is also elevating the status of Vietnamese coffee. With a population of over 100 million, the average coffee consumption is currently 2.5-3 kg per person per year. This figure is much lower than in Europe (6-8 kg per person per year), but the growth rate is considered quite rapid, opening up great opportunities for businesses.

Experts predict that global coffee demand, particularly in the US and Europe, will surge towards the end of the year thanks to the holiday season and recovering consumption. This promises to continue driving up Vietnamese coffee prices, further solidifying the increasingly important position of the coffee industry in the world market.

International media reports indicate that Coca-Cola is reviewing its strategy for the Costa Coffee chain, even considering selling the brand.

Costa Coffee was acquired by Coca-Cola in 2018 for over $5 billion, owning approximately 4,000 stores globally, primarily in the UK and Ireland. Although it was expected to help Coca-Cola expand into the coffee sector, its business performance fell short of expectations, forcing the corporation to consider adjustments.

In Vietnam, the owner of Highlands Coffee recently acquired the Paris Baguette brand, expanding its F&B ecosystem towards product diversification. Prior to this, Golden Gate acquired The Coffee House, demonstrating the increasingly strong wave of mergers and acquisitions in the industry.
