World gold price today increased strongly again

As of 4:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, the world gold price reached 3,658.98 USD/ounce, up 0.46% or 16.7 USD/ounce compared to yesterday.

Based on today's USD/VND exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,476 VND/USD), today's world gold price is equivalent to 116.7 million VND/tael. Currently, the domestic gold price is about 14.4 million VND/tael higher than the world gold price.

As of 4:00 a.m. today, September 16, 2025, the domestic gold bar price increased slightly by about 500,000 VND/tael for buying. Specifically:

DOJI Group listed the price of SJC gold bars at 128.6 - 131.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell). At the same time, Saigon Jewelry Company - SJC listed the price of gold bars at 128.6 - 131.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the price of Mi Hong gold at the time of survey was listed at 129.5-131.1 million VND/tael for buying and selling. The price of gold bars at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited was traded by the enterprise at 128.4-131.1 million VND/tael (buying and selling).

The price of SJC gold bars at Phu Quy is traded by businesses at 127.5 - 131.1 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

USD exchange rate on the afternoon of September 16: Slight recovery but still under pressure

The USD Index (DXY), which measures the strength of the greenback against other major currencies, stood at 97.66 points on the morning of September 16. Compared to the previous session, the euro exchange rate decreased by 0.07% to 1.1727 USD/EUR, the British pound decreased by 0.03% to 1.3555 USD/GBP, while the Japanese yen decreased by 0.07% to 147.57 JPY/USD.

The US dollar is likely to recover slightly after a period of weakness due to a sharp increase in US unemployment claims and a modest increase in inflation. Investors are now focusing on the US Federal Reserve's policy meeting scheduled to take place next week, with the expectation that the agency will cut the base interest rate by at least 0.25%.

As of 4:00 p.m. on September 16, the State Bank announced the central exchange rate at 25,216 VND/USD, unchanged from the weekend. With a 5% band, commercial banks are allowed to trade in the range of 23,955 - 26,477 VND/USD.

At the State Bank of Vietnam, the reference exchange rate remains at 24,006 - 26,426 VND/USD.

The USD exchange rate on the free market has dropped sharply. The free market continues to cool down. On September 16, the USD price was trading around 26,450 VND/USD (buy) and 26,550 VND/USD (sell), down 400 VND compared to the end of last week.

Compared to the peak of 27,000 VND/USD recorded on September 6, the greenback on the free market is currently about 520 VND/USD lower.

Pepper prices in key growing areas today remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Accordingly, the domestic pepper price level is from 148,000 VND/kg to 151,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, pepper price today in Dak Lak remained unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Gia Lai is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 148,000 VND/kg.

Pepper price today in Lam Dong (old Dak Nong) is unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 151,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, pepper price today in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is currently at 150,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai is unchanged from yesterday at 150,000 VND/kg.

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on September 16 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia’s Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,074 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,024 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,500/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,900/ton.

Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,600 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

In addition, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at 9,250 USD/ton.

Coffee price today September 16, 2025: Domestic price decreased, world price increased sharply

Domestic coffee prices today, September 16, 2025, in the Central Highlands region slightly decreased compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 119,600 - 120,000 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in the old Dak Nong region are purchasing coffee at the highest price of 120,000 VND/kg, a slight decrease of 500 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, coffee price in Dak Lak province is 120,000 VND/kg, down 200 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by VND400/kg compared to yesterday and were traded at VND119,800/kg.

In Lam Dong province, coffee prices decreased by VND200/kg compared to yesterday and are at VND119,600/kg.

On the London Stock Exchange, the price of the online Robusta coffee futures contract for September 2025 delivery increased to $4,817/ton, up 1.69% ($80/ton) from the previous trading session. The November 2025 contract also increased 4.24% ($195/ton) to $4,796/ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee futures for September 2025 delivery also increased sharply by 3.53% (14.5 US cents/pound) compared to the previous session, reaching 425.15 US cents/pound. The contract for December 2025 delivery increased by 5.83% (23.15 US cents/pound), reaching 420 US cents/pound.

On the Brazilian exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for delivery in September 2025 decreased by 2.08% (10.7 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 501 US cents/pound. The contract for delivery in December 2025 increased by 3.87% (18.75 US cents/pound), to 503.5 US cents/pound.

In Singapore, the price of rubber futures for October 2025 increased by 0.64% (1.1 USD/ton) compared to yesterday, to 174.2 USD/ton. The contract for November 2025 decreased by 0.22% (0.4 USD/ton) to 173.9 USD/ton.

At the opening session on September 16, in China, the rubber futures price for September 2025 on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) increased by 0.07% (10 yuan) to 14,835 yuan/ton. The rubber futures price for October 2025 decreased by 0.29% (45 yuan) to 14,910 yuan/ton.

At the time of the survey, the price of RSS3 on TOCOM Commodity Exchange (Tokyo) for September 2025 delivery increased by 0.06% (0.2 Yen/kg) compared to yesterday, reaching 323.2 Yen/kg. The contract for October 2025 delivery remained unchanged, reaching 321.9 Yen/kg.
