The days of struggle in the hospital

For over a month, Ms. Luu Thi Nga, Quang Thai hamlet, Thien Nhan commune, Nghe An province has been struggling in all hospitals from central to local level, with the hope of saving her husband's life. In order for her husband, Mr. Pham Duc Hoan, to be able to revive like today, she had to run around everywhere, borrowing large and small amounts of money from relatives and neighbors, with the thought "while there is life, there is hope".

The stroke struck, and from being the main breadwinner of the family, Mr. Hoan suffered half brain damage and half body immobility. The poor family was immersed in tears and anxiety.

The house without laughter

We found a small house by the Lam River, where Hoan and Nga's family lived. There were only two grandmothers and grandchildren left. Hoan's mother, Nguyen Thi Hoa, choked up as she said, "They used to work in the South as factory workers, but they didn't do well, so they had to go back to their hometown. My grandparents were always sick, so they couldn't help me, they only gave me a small plot of land in the garden to build a tiled house. Hoan's father is also in the hospital due to complications from diabetes and kidney disease."

Mr. Hoan and Ms. Nga have two children. The eldest child, after graduating from high school, joined the military. The second daughter, Pham Kim Ly, is in 12th grade this year. With a small stature, her health is not as good as her peers. Since her father got sick, Ly has done everything she can outside of school hours to earn more money to help her family. Every day, Ly knits cute woolen animals, sells them for 50-70 thousand, and Ly asks relatives to bring the money to the hospital for her mother.

The disaster has made life more difficult than ever for Hoan and Nga's family. In the poor Quang Thai neighborhood, Nga's family and the people here hope for a miracle for Hoan. In the midst of difficulties, Nga's family hopes to receive support from the whole community to overcome the current situation.
