Nghe An police arrested two young men for buying and selling "Tobacco" drugs
On September 19, Thanh Vinh Ward Police (Nghe An Province) announced that they had just arrested two young men (19 years old) for illegal drug trafficking. This is one of the first cases in Nghe An to detect and handle “Tobacco” drugs – a type of synthetic marijuana disguised as herbal fibers that resemble tobacco.
Accordingly, the Thanh Vinh Ward Police arrested Do Duc Anh (residing in Tan Vinh block, Thanh Vinh Ward) when he was carrying 18 plastic bags containing yellow herbal fibers suspected to be the drug "Tobacco". Checking the vehicle, the Police also seized 2 more pink boxes, inside were silver plastic bags containing the same type of suspected drug.
Expanding the investigation, the police continued to arrest Bui Van Nhat (residing in block 10, Truong Vinh ward) when the subject was hiding at an internet cafe. At the scene, the police seized 3 more plastic bags containing drugs. Nhat confessed to selling the drugs to Duc Anh for 2.8 million VND.
According to the police, “Tobaco” is a synthetic marijuana soaked in dried plants, cut into small fibers. This type has the same appearance as cigarettes and tobacco, is difficult to detect with the naked eye and can only be accurately identified through scientific examination or through signs of use.
In fact, a segment of today's youth still considers "Tobaco" not aaddictive substances, leading to the situation of buying and using despite warnings from authorities.
The timely arrest and handling of the above two subjects demonstrates the determination of Nghe An Police in the fight against drug crimes, especially new and sophisticatedly disguised drugs, to protect public health and maintain security and order in the area.
