Market news this afternoon, September 24th, at 5:00 PM: Domestic gold and silver prices increased slightly; world gold prices and USD prices decreased slightly; pepper and coffee prices showed mixed trends domestically and internationally.

World gold prices fell slightly today.

As of 5:30 PM Vietnam time today, the world gold price has reached $3770.13 per ounce, down 0.11% or $3.99 per ounce compared to yesterday.

Based on today's USD/VND exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,445 VND/USD), the world gold price today is equivalent to 120.2 million VND per tael.

Domestic gold prices this afternoon, September 24, 2025

As of 5:00 PM today, September 24, 2025, the price of domestic gold bars increased by 100,000 VND/ounce in both buying and selling prices compared to yesterday. Specifically:

The price of SJC gold bars, as listed by DOJI Group, is 133.1 - 135.1 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price). At the same time, the price of gold bars listed by Saigon Jewelry Company Limited (SJC) and PNJ is also 133.1 - 135.1 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price).

Meanwhile, at Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the price of SJC gold at the time of the survey was listed at 134.1 - 135.1 million VND/ounce for buying and selling. At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited, the price of gold bars was traded at 133.1 - 135.1 million VND/ounce (buying - selling).

At Phu Quy, the price of SJC gold bars is being traded by businesses at 132.6 - 135.1 million VND/ounce (buy - sell).

Bao Tin Minh Chau listed the price of gold rings unchanged from yesterday at 129.3 - 132.3 million VND/ounce (buying price - selling price).

Silver prices this afternoon, September 24th: Continue to rise.

As of 5:30 PM on September 24th, domestic silver prices recorded a significant increase. At Phu Quy Gold, Silver and Gemstone Group, the price of silver increased by 19,000 VND/ounce compared to the previous session, reaching 1,693,000 VND/ounce for buying and 1,745,000 VND/ounce for selling.

In Hanoi, the price of silver also increased by 5,000 VND/ounce, currently ranging from 1,416,000 to 1,450,000 VND/ounce.

In Ho Chi Minh City, a similar trend occurred, with the price of silver increasing by 5,000 VND/ounce, listed at 1,417,000 - 1,455,000 VND/ounce.

On the international market, the spot price of silver on the morning of September 24th reached $44.35 per ounce, an increase of $0.15 per ounce compared to the previous session. Converted to Vietnamese currency, the world silver price fluctuated between approximately 1,166,000 and 1,172,000 VND per ounce, an increase of about 4,000 to 5,000 VND per ounce. This development contributed to a further upward trend in domestic silver prices.

USD exchange rate on the afternoon of September 24th: Slightly decreased.

On the afternoon of September 24th, the central exchange rate between the US dollar and the Vietnamese dong, as announced by the State Bank of Vietnam, was slightly adjusted down by 3 dong, to 25,186 VND/USD.

With a trading range of ±5%, the ceiling exchange rate is set at 26,445 VND/USD and the floor exchange rate at 23,927 VND/USD.

At the State Bank of Vietnam's exchange floor, the reference exchange rate remained unchanged at 23,980 VND/USD for buying and 26,398 VND/USD for selling.

At banks, the selling price of the US dollar was commonly at the ceiling of 26,448 VND/USD, while the buying price was adjusted upwards by 10 to 30 dong at many banks compared to the previous session, fluctuating around 26,198 - 26,233 VND/USD.

In the free market, the USD exchange rate remained unchanged compared to yesterday, trading around 26,484 VND/USD (buying) and 26,584 VND/USD (selling).

In the commercial banking sector, exchange rates fluctuated slightly. Vietcombank listed the USD at 26,225 VND/USD (buying) and 26,445 VND/USD (selling), a decrease of 3 dong compared to yesterday.

At BIDV, the buying price increased by 7 dong while the selling price decreased by 3 dong, to 26,235 VND/USD and 26,445 VND/USD respectively.

Several other banks, such as Techcombank, Eximbank, and Sacombank, also made slight downward adjustments in their selling prices.

On the international market, the DXY index – a measure of the US dollar's strength against a basket of major currencies – stood at 97.22 points, down 0.13%. This decline stems from expectations that the US Federal Reserve (FED) may continue to lower interest rates in October.

Pepper prices today, September 24, 2025: Scattered increases

Today's pepper prices in key growing regions saw scattered increases compared to yesterday. As a result, the average domestic pepper price is between 148,000 VND/kg and 150,000 VND/kg.

In the Central Highlands region, today's pepper price in Dak Lak remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 150,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Gia Lai increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 148,000 VND/kg.

Today's pepper price in Lam Dong (formerly Dak Nong) remains unchanged compared to yesterday, currently at 149,000 VND/kg.

In the Southeast region, today's pepper price in Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Ba Ria - Vung Tau) is 150,000 VND/kg, unchanged from yesterday. Dong Nai also remains unchanged from yesterday at 150,000 VND/kg.

Additionally, the price of pepper in Binh Phuoc province increased by 1000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently standing at 148,000 VND/kg.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on September 24th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,027/ton. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,957/ton.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices fell slightly compared to yesterday, standing at $6,500 per ton (down 1.54%).

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,700/tonne. Similarly, ASTA white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$12,900/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) is 6,600 USD/ton; and the price of 550 gr/l is 6,800 USD/ton.

In addition, the price of Vietnamese white pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,250 per ton.

Coffee prices today, September 24, 2025: A sharp drop.

Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, September 24, 2025, have fallen sharply compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 110,500 and 111,500 VND/kg.

Accordingly, traders in the former Dak Nong region are buying coffee at a maximum of 111,500 VND/kg, a sharp decrease of 3,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province is 111,500 VND/kg, a decrease of 3,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday.

Coffee prices in Gia Lai province decreased by 2800 VND/kg compared to yesterday and are trading at 111,200 VND/kg.

In Lam Dong province, the price of coffee decreased by 3000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, reaching 110,500 VND/kg.

On the London exchange, online robusta coffee futures contracts for November 2025 delivery reached $4181 per ton, up 1.53% ($63 per ton) from yesterday. The January 2026 contract rose 1.37% ($56 per ton) to $4135 per ton.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for December 2025 delivery rose 1.39% (4.85 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, reaching 355 US cents/pound. The March 2026 contract increased 1.19% (4 US cents/pound), reaching 339.05 US cents/pound.

On the Brazilian exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for December 2025 delivery rose 0.63% (2.65 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, reaching 426.5 US cents/pound. The March 2026 contract increased 0.48% (2 US cents/pound), reaching 422.85 US cents/pound.

Oil prices today, September 24, 2025: Slightly higher again.

World oil prices edged higher after a report from the American Petroleum Institute showed that US crude oil inventories fell last week. This development provided further basis for market forecasts of tightening global supply.

On the afternoon of September 24th, Brent crude futures rose 26 cents to $67.89 per barrel. US WTI crude also increased 26 cents to $63.67 per barrel.

Previously, both types of oil had surged by more than $1 per barrel due to the stalled agreement to resume exports from the Kurdistan region (Iraq), causing the pipeline transporting approximately 230,000 barrels per day to Türkiye to remain shut down since March 2023.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced new retail fuel prices effective from 3 PM on September 18th. Specifically, they are as follows:

- The price of E5 RON92 gasoline increased by 230 VND, reaching a maximum of 19,986 VND/liter.

- The price of RON95 gasoline increased by 208 dong, reaching 20,608 dong/liter.

- The price of E10 RON 95-III gasoline increased sharply by 560 VND, reaching 20,600 VND/liter.

- Diesel fuel prices increased by 62 dong to 18,705 dong/liter.

- The price of kerosene increased by 176 dong to 18,544 dong/liter.

- The price of fuel oil increased by 40 dong, to 15,130 dong/kg.

During this period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance did not allocate or utilize funds from the Price Stabilization Fund.
