Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD is Ford's first electric vehicle in Vietnam, 88 kWh battery for a range of 550 km, 150 kW DC fast charging. Price 2.599 billion VND, delivery from early October 2025.

Marking 30 years of presence in Vietnam, Ford officially entered the electric vehicle market with the Mustang Mach-E, with only the Premium AWD version. This is Ford's first electric SUV sold in Vietnam, and is also the beginning of the company's electrification strategy in this market.

On paper, the Mach-E Premium AWD packs the key specs of a mid-range electric SUV: an 88 kWh battery, a claimed range of 550 km, 150 kW DC fast charging, and dual-motor all-wheel drive. The nearly 2.6 billion VND price tag reflects import costs (35% import tax on electric vehicles from Mexico) and suggests Ford is testing the response of high-end consumers before expanding its electric product portfolio.

A look that keeps the Mustang soul on an electric SUV platform

Despite its electric SUV form, the Mach-E retains the DNA that made the Mustang famous: the “wild horse” logo instead of the blue oval, the elongated hood, and the iconic three-bar taillights. The streamlined coupe stance, the flared grille, modern LED strip, 19-inch wheels, and the handleless E-Latch door system create a purely muscular yet aerodynamically optimized look for an electric vehicle.

Overall dimensions length x width x height reach 4,713 x 1,881 x 1,627 (mm), wheelbase 2,984 mm. Compared to VinFast VF8 (4,750 x 1,900 x 1,660 mm), Mach-E is slightly shorter and narrower, in return the long wheelbase provides good legroom in theory.

Minimalist cabin, technology at the center

The Mach-E's interior approach follows the trend of electrification: minimizing surfaces, reducing the number of hard buttons and focusing on the screen cluster. Behind the steering wheel is a 10.2-inch digital dashboard that displays core operating information. The center is a 15.5-inch touchscreen running SYNC 4A, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and being the gateway to control almost all the features on the car.

The core amenities list includes dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and an optional 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system. The panoramic glass roof doesn't come with a shade; Ford says the special glass helps reduce heat absorption in hot weather and keep you warm in cold weather. Cargo space is 402 liters, expanding to 1,420 liters with the rear seats folded; the front trunk has a capacity of 81 liters, useful for separating clean/dirty items.

Operating parameters and experience based on published data

The Premium AWD version uses two electric motors located in the front/rear, for a total output of 395 horsepower and 676 Nm of torque. The four-wheel drive system promises good traction in many weather conditions. The “one-pedal” driving mode allows acceleration, deceleration and complete stop using only the accelerator pedal – an operating feature of electric vehicles that helps smooth control and saves friction braking.

The 88 kWh lithium-ion battery pack is the basis for a claimed range of 550 km. 150 kW DC fast charging takes the battery from 10% to 80% in 36 minutes. On household/public AC infrastructure, the vehicle supports single-phase 7.4 kW or three-phase 11 kW; 10–80% charge time is approximately 6 hours, according to the claim.

Active safety and charging infrastructure

The standard ADAS package includes: Collision Mitigation, Rear Brake Assist, Blind Spot and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Driver Condition Monitor and a 360-degree camera. These features help reduce driver fatigue on highways/urban areas and increase active safety in intersection situations.

Regarding charging infrastructure, Ford Vietnam said customers can charge at 53 dealers nationwide and the company is cooperating with charging station providers to increase the total to 275 points in the near future.

Competitive pricing, delivery schedule and positioning

The Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD is priced at VND2.599 billion; the first 300 customers will receive a VND100 million discount. The first cars are expected to be delivered to customers from early October 2025. The current price is heavily influenced by the 35% import tax on electric vehicles from Mexico.

In terms of positioning, this model targets high-end customers who love the Mustang brand and are ready to experience electric cars. Ford Vietnam has not set a specific sales target, considering this a test step to measure market response. In terms of competition, when it comes to boosting sales, Mustang Mach-E will compete with VinFast VF8 - a rival with a selling price of about half (VND 1.199 billion) but "almost equivalent power" as described in the source information.

Conclude

The Mustang Mach-E Premium AWD opens a new chapter for Ford in Vietnam with a clear technology package: 88 kWh battery platform, 150 kW DC fast charging, AWD and a full ADAS portfolio. The high price reflects the import problem and shows the company's market exploration strategy before expanding to other configurations.
