Silver prices this afternoon, September 26th: A sharp increase across the board.
As of 5:30 PM on September 26th, silver prices recorded a sharp increase across the board, both globally and domestically, benefiting from expectations that the US Federal Reserve (FED) would soon ease monetary policy.
Domestic silver prices have shown a clear upward trend. In Hanoi, the Phu Quy Gold, Silver and Gemstone Group's system led the increase, with the selling price reaching 1,770,000 VND/ounce, up 29,000 VND compared to the previous morning's session.
Other businesses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City also adjusted their gold prices upwards by 18,000 VND/ounce for both buying and selling. The common price listed is around 1,457,000 VND/ounce for selling in Ho Chi Minh City.

On the global market, the spot price of silver at 5:30 PM (Vietnam time) also surged, reaching $44.816 per ounce, an increase of approximately 32,000 VND per ounce in just one day. The strong recovery from the global market is the main reason for the simultaneous increase in the domestic market.
According to expert analysis, the main driver behind silver prices stems from expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates in the near future. In addition, long-term industrial demand for silver remains very strong. The metal is an essential component in the energy transition, such as solar panel production and electrification, creating a foundation that supports prices in the long term.
Analysts believe the market is currently consolidating. All attention is focused on the upcoming PCE inflation data from the Fed. The results of this index will provide crucial clues about the monetary policy trajectory, thereby determining the next direction of silver prices. Nevertheless, the global interest rate environment is creating a favorable atmosphere for precious metals like silver.
USD exchange rate on the afternoon of September 26th: The free market saw an increase.
The USD exchange rate on the afternoon of September 26th fluctuated with an upward trend in the free market, while the State Bank of Vietnam slightly adjusted the central exchange rate, creating a noticeable difference between the channels.

At the State Bank of Vietnam's exchange floor, the reference exchange rate is listed at two levels: 23,982 VND/USD for buying and 26,400 VND/USD for selling.
Exchange rates listed at major banks are fluctuating inconsistently. Vietcombank maintained its buying rate at 26,200 VND/USD and its selling rate at 26,450 VND/USD.
BIDV recorded a decrease of 15 dong in the buying rate, down to 26,215 VND/USD, and a slight increase of 3 dong in the selling rate, up to 26,453 VND/USD.

The strength of the US dollar is also clearly reflected in global markets. The Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the value of the greenback against a basket of major currencies, rose 0.61% to 98.47 points. This increase further reinforces the upward trend of the USD internationally.
Asian stocks fluctuate due to tariffs.
Asian markets entered the trading session with significant volatility, influenced by news of new US tariffs and adjustments in monetary policy expectations.
The introduction of a new tariff package from the US administration has created a wave of anxiety across Asian stock markets. Japan's Topix index fell 1.4%, while the Nikkei index dropped 0.5%. In Australia, shares of biotechnology giant CSL plummeted more than 3%. The MSCI Asia Pacific index (excluding Japan) also declined 0.45%.
