Coffee prices have increased significantly today. The main reason is due to unfavorable weather conditions in Vietnam right before the harvest time. Bad weather has raised concerns about possible decline in coffee productivity and output.

Vietnam is currently the second largest coffee exporter in the world. Any fluctuations in coffee production from Vietnam directly affect the global supply. Meanwhile, the demand for coffee in the world is still maintaining a steady growth momentum.

For farmers, the right strategy at this time is to divide the amount of goods to sell. They can sell a part of the product to ensure cash is available, and continue to monitor the international market for better times. This approach is considered to bring optimal efficiency.

For traders and businesses, to limit risks during periods of strong price fluctuations, they need to closely monitor coffee futures contracts. In addition, strict management of warehouse and transportation costs and exchange rate balance are also key factors to help stabilize business operations.

The weekend trading session saw prices rise on both coffee exchanges, boosted by pressure from the falling US dollar and news of Typhoon Bualoi heading towards Vietnam. Forecasts of heavy rain in areas preparing for coffee harvest have many people concerned about the progress and quality of this crop.

Typhoon Bualoi entered the East Sea on the evening of September 26, becoming the 10th typhoon of 2025. The storm is very strong and moves at a speed twice as fast as normal storms, along with a wide range of influence, capable of causing many types of combined natural disasters.

The storm is expected to directly impact the North Central region. Provinces such as Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa are forecast to receive very heavy rain. Rainfall in these areas can reach 300 to 400 millimeters, even higher in some localities.

Even as the storm moves into Laos, its circulation could continue to bring heavy rains of 150 to 400 millimeters to upper Laos. The weather conditions will affect key coffee-harvesting areas in Vietnam, affecting the yield and quality of the upcoming harvest.
