Coffee prices rose significantly today. The main reason is the unfavorable weather conditions in Vietnam just before the harvest season. Bad weather has raised concerns about a potential decrease in coffee yield and production.
Vietnam is currently the world's second-largest coffee exporter. Any fluctuations in Vietnam's coffee production directly impact global supply. Meanwhile, global demand for coffee continues to grow steadily.
For farmers, the appropriate strategy right now is to divide their produce into smaller batches for sale. They can sell a portion of their produce to ensure a readily available cash flow, while continuing to monitor the international market for a better opportunity. This approach is considered to be the most effective.
From the perspective of traders and businesses, to mitigate risks during periods of high price volatility, they need to closely monitor coffee futures contracts. In addition, tight management of warehousing and transportation costs, and balancing exchange rates are also key factors in maintaining stable business operations.

The weekend trading session saw price increases on both coffee exchanges, driven by pressure from the weakening US dollar and news of Typhoon Bualoi heading towards Vietnam. Forecasts of heavy rain in areas preparing for coffee harvesting have raised concerns about the progress and quality of this crop.
Typhoon Bualoi entered the South China Sea on the evening of September 26th, becoming the 10th typhoon of 2025. The typhoon was very strong and moved at twice the speed of typical typhoons, with a wide area of impact, potentially causing a combination of various natural disasters.
The storm is forecast to directly affect the North Central region. Provinces such as Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Thanh Hoa are predicted to experience very heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts in these areas could reach 300 to 400 millimeters, and even higher in some localities.
Even as the storm moves into Laos, its circulation could continue to bring heavy rainfall of 150 to 400 millimeters to upper Laos. This weather situation is affecting key coffee-growing regions in Vietnam, impacting the yield and quality of the upcoming harvest.
