Many students said that the flood rose so quickly that when they fled, they only managed to grab a change of clothes, books, and notebooks, leaving many other belongings behind.

Student Nguyen Hoang Quynh Trang, from Dien Nam hamlet, recounted: "I saw the water rising very quickly. When we started fleeing the flood, the water was only knee-deep. So, before evacuating, my family managed to move all our belongings to the top of the cupboard. However, the water reached the roof and everything was swept away by the flood."

As an English teacher, Ms. Phan Thi Nhu Quynh said: "Not only class 7B but many other classes at the school have lost all their textbooks. Therefore, in the first few days back at school, I encouraged the students to share books. In addition, I will also teach at a slower pace so that students can easily understand the lesson."

Ky Tan Secondary School has 10 classes, with more than 415 students. However, according to the school's statistics, 307 students' homes were flooded due to rain and floods. In some classes, the rate was nearly 100%, such as class 9B (44 students), class 6A (45 students), and class 7B (30 students).
