The feelings of students in flood-affected areas
In the days of returning to school after the flood, not only schools and teachers but also thousands of students across the province are facing difficult situations as their houses, belongings, books, and clothes have been swept away by the water.
"Free" study hours
On the morning of October 7, the second day after returning to school, nearly half of the students in class 7B, Ky Tan Secondary School,Tan KyThere are still not enough books and notebooks for all subjects. Many students said that the flood rose so quickly that when they fled, they only had time to bring their clothes, books and many other belongings and had to leave them behind.
Student Nguyen Hoang Quynh Trang, in Dien Nam hamlet, recounted: I saw the water rise very quickly. When the flood started, the water was only knee-high. So, before evacuating, my family managed to put all of their belongings on top of the cupboard. However, the water rose to the roof and everything was swept away by the flood.

As an English teacher, Ms. Phan Thi Nhu Quynh said: Not only class 7B but also many other classes in the school have run out of books. Therefore, in the first days back to school, I encouraged students to share books. In addition, I will also teach the lessons more slowly so that students can absorb the lessons more easily.
Ky Tan Secondary School has 10 classes, with more than 415 students. However, according to the school's statistics, 307 students' homes were flooded due to rain and floods. Among them, there were classes with a rate of nearly 100% such as class 9B (44 students), class 6A (45 students), class 7B (30 students). In most of these cases, families had their property damaged, lost all their books and clothes.

After storm No. 10, Ky Tan Secondary School was also one of the schools most severely damaged when the storm blew off the roofs of 6 classrooms, the administrative building, the library's metal frame, and collapsed the teachers' garage.
The recent storm was followed by a sudden flood, which completely destroyed 3 televisions, 4 computers, a projector, speakers, a water purifier, and all the school’s books and teaching equipment. The total damage after the two storms and floods was over 800 million VND.

Immediately after the flood, the school principal also wrote an open letter calling for support to help students and the school overcome difficulties to continue teaching and learning. Teacher Nguyen Thi Hai Ly - Principal of the school added: Up to this point, we have received nearly 50 million VND in support, including cash and some books and school supplies. However, to overcome all the damage is still very difficult and the school's resources are difficult to do.
To make students feel secure going to school
Over the past two days, right after students returned to school, the Board of Directors of Ky Tan Secondary School promptly updated the full list of students whose books and school supplies had been lost.
At the same time, we have promptly compiled all the books and notebooks that the benefactors have supported to give back to the students. Most of the books sent to the students this morning are old books. Many books, after a long journey of transportation in the storm, are still wet or not intact, but are still received by the students with care and gratitude.

Also in Tan Ky commune, students of Ky Tan Kindergarten will not be able to return to school until tomorrow morning. According to teacher Nguyen Thi Quynh - Principal of the school, afterfloodHistorically, both school facilities were severely damaged and suffered serious damage. In particular, the new facility, which had just been inaugurated and put into use for more than a month, was submerged in water nearly 2 meters deep, so all electronic equipment and boarding facilities were affected.

In addition, all teaching equipment, toys, and books of students were also swept away by the flood: "We are trying to fix it so that students can go to school on Wednesday morning. However, to return to normal activities will still be difficult and they may have to study in poor conditions for a long time. Mobilizing and donating at this time is very difficult, because all the students' families are affected by the flood", Ms. Quynh added.

Across the province, schools are still counting the damage caused by floods. After two consecutive storms, not only schools but also thousands of students across the province are facing a shortage of books, notebooks, clothes and school supplies.

To share the difficulties of schools, some schools in the province have also started to donate books, notebooks and school supplies to students in flood-affected areas.

At Anh Son Secondary School, Anh Son Commune, with the purpose of "Sending love - Giving knowledge", during the flag-raising ceremony this Monday morning, the school organized a donation of 1,818 textbooks, 1,108 notebooks, 480 pens, 53 red scarves and 3 sets of school supplies to send to flood-affected students at Binh Son Secondary School, Thanh Tho Commune.

Meanwhile, at Le Loi Secondary School, Thanh Vinh Ward, the gifts sent to flood-affected students, in addition to books and candies, also included many words of encouragement, hoping that they would soon overcome difficulties and natural disasters to strive to study and practice well.
The donation and support activities for students in flood-affected areas not only demonstrate the spirit of compassion and sharing of Le Loi Secondary School students, but also contribute to educating them about kindness, community responsibility and awareness of living a beautiful life.
