Director of Department of Education and Training inspects flood recovery at schools
On the morning of September 30, Director of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh and leaders of Cua Lo ward government inspected the damage and flood recovery work at a number of schools in the ward.

At Nghi Thu Primary School, the stormstorm number 10The fire blew off the roof and damaged 3 classrooms and many trees in the school were broken. After 1 day, the repair work is being urgently carried out by teachers, parents and officers and soldiers of the North Central Mobile Police Regiment. In the morning, 8 trees that were broken in the school were pruned and cleaned up. The entire school campus is also being cleaned to be completed within the day.

Next to Nghi Thu Primary School, Le Thi Bach Cat Secondary School also suffered damage to many items. In addition to the roof of the 3-story classroom building being blown off, the school also had a fence over 30 meters long collapsed and the student parking garage was severely damaged.
Joining the support force, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thai Son - Deputy Head of the Collection Team - Provincial Military Command said: Immediately after the storm, our unit mobilized more than 70 officers and soldiers to support flood recovery for Nghi Thuy Primary School, Nghi Thu Primary School and Le Thi Bach Cat Secondary School. Although the amount of corrugated iron and bricks damaged by the roof is quite large, the unit is determined to complete the cleanup today so that the schools can soon stabilize their classrooms.

Previously, according to a report from the People's Committee of Cua Lo ward, storm No. 10 caused heavy damage to the education sector in Cua Lo with 23/26 schools affected, mainly the roofs of classrooms and administrative buildings were blown off, and teaching equipment, toys and utensils were damaged.
In addition, some schools such as Xanh Tue Duc Primary and Secondary School had the ceilings of some classrooms and hallways collapse, Hai Hoa Secondary School and Thu Thuy Primary School were flooded with more than 1 meter of water due to high tides in classrooms.

At Thu Thuy Primary School this morning, nearly 100 teachers, ward police and officers and soldiers of local military units were mobilized to urgently overcome the storm and flood.
This is one of the schools that suffered the most damage, both in terms of facilities and teaching equipment. The recovery is also facing many difficulties because the current funding source mainly depends on the school or from support sources.
Meanwhile, at Nghi Thuy Primary School, the two-story classroom building built in 1982 was completely damaged after the storm, many classrooms cannot be used due to potential safety risks.

Inspecting the flood recovery work at schools in Cua Lo ward, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh shared the difficulties and hardships of schools when they continuously faced two dangerous storms in just one month.

The Department's leaders also acknowledged the flexibility of schools such as Nghi Tan Secondary School and Thu Thuy Primary School, although many classrooms are currently damaged and cannot be put into use, the schools have quickly come up with solutions such as transferring functional rooms and offices to prioritize classrooms for students.
According to reports from schools, today, cleaning and repairing damage will be completed soon so that tomorrow morning or at the latest Thursday morning, students in Cua Lo ward will soon return to school.

After listening to the report on the extent of damage to schools and the leaders of Cua Lo ward, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh also requested the locality to quickly compile detailed statistics of the damage. In particular, pay special attention to some degraded and damaged works, and send them to the Department and the province to have a plan to soon arrange emergency construction funds, ensuring that students' studies are not interrupted.

In the coming time, the Department also hopes that localities and schools will take advantage of funding sources, support sources, and call for socialization to gradually overcome the damage.
On this occasion, the Department of Education and Training also provided partial funding to encourage schools to overcome difficulties and soon stabilize teaching and learning.

In addition to Cua Lo ward, according to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, hundreds of schools in the area were affected by the recent storm No. 10. Of these, 45 schools were flooded, 18 schools suffered landslides, 131 schools had their corrugated iron roofs blown off in classrooms and functional rooms, 91 schools had their tiled roofs blown off, 85 schools had their fences collapsed, 110 schools had some items collapsed or their garage roofs blown off. The estimated damage to the entire sector is more than 300 billion VND.
It is worrying that in some localities in Tan Ky, Yen Thanh, Nghia Dan, Quy Chau (old) districts, water continues to rise, many schools are deeply submerged in floodwater. It is expected that this week, some schools will not be able to return to school.
