In this year’s 12th grade excellent student exam, Nguyen Duy Trinh High School (Nghe An) made a mark when for the first time, a student won first prize and was the valedictorian of the Informatics subject. Along with that, two other students of the school also won first prize in Literature and History… Notably, all three students are female and have excellent academic achievements.

The first valedictorian of the school

Nguyen Linh Trang, class 12A1 - Nguyen Duy Trinh High School, is probably the contestant who brought the biggest surprise in the provincial excellent student competition season for the 2025 - 2026 school year, when for the first time a student not from a specialized school won first prize.valedictorianComputer Science

This is also a subject that is not an advantage for female students and the rate of female participation is not high. Therefore, the result that Trang received has brought double joy to her family and to the school. Particularly for teacher Nguyen Thi Anh - the IT training teacher, this competition season has a special meaning because this is the first year she has been assigned the task of training the team. In addition to Linh Trang, the remaining member Nguyen Quoc Khanh also excellently brought home the second prize and helped the IT team have a successful competition season.

In the IT team, Nguyen Linh Trang was a quiet and quite shy student. But at Nguyen Duy Trinh High School, a school nearly 20km from home, Trang was trusted by teachers and had more opportunities to develop her abilities.

Talking about Trang, teacher Nguyen Thi Anh recalled the beginning of grade 10. At that time, Trang was one of the few students who proactively approached her to ask to join the excellent student training team: Before joining the team, many students were familiar with programming. But Trang only had the knowledge of a junior high school student, and had never taken extra classes outside. I myself was quite skeptical at first, but after a short time, Trang made remarkable progress. Trang had an advantage: she was very good at math, intelligent, had a sharp mind, and was diligent. In addition to learning from her in class, Trang also had the awareness to self-study, self-discovery, and was willing to research online and go to forums to learn about new knowledge about programming - Ms. Anh added.

Coming to IT later than her friends, but thanks to her talent, Trang has made rapid progress. Therefore, in grade 10, Trang won the second prize for excellent students at school. In grade 11, she rose to win the first prize and then always led the team. Coming toProvincial excellent student examTrang said that she was initially quite worried because Information Technology is the strength of specialized school students and there are many excellent students.

Trang herself, during the exam, encountered a virus problem and had to redo the test, so she didn't have much time to check the results. Therefore, when she heard that she won first prize, valedictorian with 16.5 points, Trang couldn't help but be surprised: "When I came to the contest, I just thought I had to try my best and never thought I would win a high prize. Therefore, this result is beyond my expectations. This is also the motivation for me to be more confident in myself and continue pursuing my dream of working in the cybersecurity industry."

Outstanding female students

For many years now, Nguyen Duy Trinh High School has had a student win First Prize in Literature. The winner, Dinh Tran Thao Dan, class 12A, said: "I was thrilled when I heard that I won First Prize. In addition to my own efforts, I thank the teachers who have wholeheartedly helped and nurtured me during the 3 years of high school so that I have the knowledge and confidence to overcome myself."

Dinh Tran Thao Dan grew up in a family with a mother who was a Literature teacher and a father who was a Math teacher. Although she was good at all subjects, Dan chose to focus on Literature because she wanted to become a Literature teacher in the future, following in her mother's footsteps. Dan herself won the second prize in the provincial Literature competition in 9th grade and dreamed of entering a specialized school in the province. When she was 0.5 points short and could not fulfill her dream, Dan determined to spend 3 years in high school, aiming for the 12th grade Excellent Student Exam.

Accompanying Thao Dan, teacher Nguyen Thanh Binh said: Dan has a good foundation in Literature in her junior high school years, so since grade 11, when teaching and nurturing her, I have always encouraged her to develop her full potential. However, with the new program, the exam questions are outside the textbook, requiring candidates to have a wide knowledge of both practical and theoretical understanding, so I also have very high requirements for students. Particularly with Dan, I am always more strict and rarely give marks according to her ability so that she is not subjective and does not lose points for small mistakes. Personally, I highly appreciate Dan for her ability to self-study, diligence, hard work, and passion for reading. In addition, she has strengths in theory, an emotional and creative writing style, with her own personality, expressing her own opinions, suitable for the "open" exam.

Every evaluation, whether praise or criticism, will help me improve. Thanks to the teacher's strictness, I have trained myself to study and research on my own. Without pressure, I would not have formed a good study habit.

In addition to Literature, History is also a subject that brought high achievements to Nguyen Duy Trinh High School when 100% of the contestants won prizes, including 1 First prize, 4 Second prizes and 1 Encouragement prize.

Student Nguyen Minh Phuong, class 12D - First prize winner in History said: "I study in block D but still really like History because this is a subject associated with many specific events and characters. During the learning process, I often read through to understand and then memorize, expand on the issue and relate it to reality. I also often watch documentaries about history to understand the nature of the problem."

To have a successful exam season, teacher Hoang Thi Hanh - head of the History team said: In addition to basic and advanced knowledge, I always want to convey the love of history to my students. Personally, I am very happy because during the training process, I realized that the students have a real passion for history, especially Vietnamese history. Therefore, learning comes easier to them and throughout the exam preparation process, that love helps them have more motivation to try hard and study well, and do well in the exam.

We are very pleased with the results that the school has achieved this school year. In addition to the efforts and struggles of the students, the exam results have affirmed the quality of education of the school, the love of the profession, and the enthusiasm of the teachers.

This is also the motivation for teachers and students to innovate teaching methods, aiming for increasingly high quality, helping students develop comprehensively.
