They hid tens of kilograms of silver, worth billions of Vietnamese dong, under their shoe soles to smuggle it across the border.
Twenty kilograms of silver, in the form of small, round, white granules, were disguised in plastic bags and hidden under shoe soles by the suspects for illegal smuggling across the border.
On November 11th, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police announced that they had issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings in the case of "Smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.
In addition, the Quang Ninh Provincial Police issued indictments against Vu Duy Khuong (born in 1996, residing in Mong Cai 2 Ward, Quang Ninh Province) and Vu Dinh Trieu (born in 1993, residing in Ke Sat Commune, Hai Phong City) for the crime of "Smuggling"; and indictments against Phung Trung Dung (born in 2008), Vu Thi Hang (born in 1985), and Luong Van Tuan (born in 1991, all three residing in Mong Cai 2 Ward, Quang Ninh Province) for the crime of "Illegally transporting goods across the border".

Earlier, at 7 PM on October 20th, at the parking area of the Mong Cai International Border Gate, the Economic Police Department, in coordination with other functional forces, inspected and seized a total of 20 kg of silver, worth over 1 billion VND, from the persons and vehicles of Vu Thi Hang, Phung Trung Dung, and Luong Van Tuan.
The silver, in the form of small, round, white granules, was disguised by the suspects in plastic bags measuring approximately 15x8cm and hidden under the soles of their shoes for illegal smuggling across the border.

Initial investigations determined that the silver was transported by Vu Duy Khuong, who hired Hang, Tuan, and Dung to move it from Dongxing City (China) to Vietnam via the Mong Cai International Border Gate, for a fee of 20 RMB/kg (approximately 75,000 VND/kg) to sell to Vu Dinh Trieu for profit.
While Hang, Tuan, and Dung were transporting the silver from Mong Cai International Border Gate to the parking lot at Mong Cai International Border Gate to take it to Vu Thi Hang's house for safekeeping, they were discovered and arrested by the police.
