With all my love and gratitude!…

The International Day of Older Persons on October 1, 2022, with the theme “Resilience and contributions of older women”, is truly meaningful; “a mark and reminder of the important role of older women in overcoming global challenges and demonstrating their strong resilience and contributions to the development of society”.

In our country, the important role of women in the family and society throughout thousands of years of the nation's history has created a unique tradition of Vietnamese women as "heroic, indomitable, loyal, and capable". In the trend of integration and development of the country today, the role of women is more affirmed than ever, with positive contributions to all areas of development and all social activities.

“Without a mother, without women – Where would heroes and poets be?” (Maxim Gorky). Responding to this year’s International Day of Older Persons with the theme of the contributions of older women to all of humanity, it is also an opportunity for us to honor Vietnamese grandmothers and mothers who have been, are and will always be symbols of sacrifice, patience, and a pillar of faith and motivation for generations of children who have made the glorious history of the nation.

When talking about grandmothers and mothers, we not only utter the two words "gratitude" but also deep respect. Many examples of elderly Vietnamese women today have built up the symbol of Vietnamese mothers who keep the "fire" of the family - the cell of society, who play an important role in anchoring morality, multiplying the personality of generations of grandchildren growing up, maturing with dreams, ambitions, practical actions to contribute to the homeland, the country...; that, certainly "all show respect, gratitude, love and responsibility" for the elderly in general, and for grandmothers and mothers in particular.

Yes! In each of us, our homeland and country seem to be an incarnation of our mother and grandmother; and with all our gratitude, love, respect and trust, we will have the motivation and responsibility to live better and more usefully – That is also the greatest gratitude!
