Poverty is not due to laziness

Dozens of houses were swept away by flash floods in Ky Son and have not been rebuilt yet. The car that was swept away by the flood and known to the whole society was found after nearly half a month and sold for only 50 million VND, while its value was about 400 million VND. Hundreds of motorbikes submerged in mud and soil are still "piled up" at repair shops after nearly a month.

The above images prove the argument that “poverty is not necessarily the result of laziness”. That’s right, before the flash flood, people of all ethnic groups worked very hard to build a house, buy a motorbike, buy a TV, a refrigerator… to serve their lives. Then, after just one day, everything was swept away. “Poverty is not due to laziness”. How long will it take to rebuild? Households that lost their homes are waiting for government support, looking for a safe place to resettle. As for vehicles that cannot be repaired, people may spend several weeks, months or years working, storing, and shopping.

It is very gratifying that people across the country have joined hands to donate tens of millions of dong, even hundreds of millions of dong to each family to support people in the flash flood area to rebuild their houses, buy supplies, and soon stabilize their lives. However, as mentioned above, now, many households that have received support money cannot rebuild their houses because they do not have land and materials available. Life is therefore still difficult. The households whose houses and vehicles were swept away by the flash flood were not poor households before. But now it is different! It is true that "poverty is not due to laziness". Sharing with people, I hope that in the soonest time, people affected by floods and natural disasters in Ky Son and many other regions will soon "escape poverty".
