10 schools compete in gender equality contest
On the morning of December 15, the Department of Education and Training organized a contest to learn about knowledge and laws on gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence for the advancement of women in high schools and continuing education centers in Nghe An province in 2024.
The contest had the participation of 10 teams with nearly 150 contestants and actors from 10 units selected from the grassroots. Previously, the online round took place from November 15 to December 5, 2024, with the participation of 109 high schools and continuing education centers in the province, receiving the response of thousands of students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Mai - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest affirmed,gender equalityGender equality is one of the global issues. Gender equality has become one of the important development goals of countries around the world, aiming towards a progressive, democratic and civilized society.
In the provincial education sector, in recent years, gender equality work has achieved encouraging results, contributing to narrowing the gender gap in various fields, positively contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the country.

However, in reality, the community, society and even the educational environment are still facing many challenges regarding gender equality.
Gender stereotypes still exist in all areas of social life, schools and families, and gender-based violence continues to occur in many different forms.

From the above meaning, the contest to learn about knowledge and laws on gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence is organized with the aim of diversifying activities and forms of dissemination and propaganda to improve understanding of laws, policies and regulations on gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence, for the advancement of women.
At the same time, through the contest, spread meaningful messages about gender equality to students and people of all walks of life in the province.

At this contest, 10 teams from high schools: Que Phong, Le Loi, Quynh Luu 4, Hoang Mai, Huynh Thuc Khang, Thanh Chuong 3, Do Luong 4, Ky Son, Hermann Gmeiner and Dien Chau District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center will go through 4 rounds: greeting, knowledge, skit and eloquence.
The contest content focuses on understanding knowledge and laws on gender equality; preventing and responding to gender-based violence, for the advancement of women and guiding documents for implementation.

At the end of the competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the First Prize to Huynh Thuc Khang High School, 2 Second Prizes to Do Luong 4 High School and Thanh Chuong 3 High School. The Third Prize was awarded to 3 units: Hoang Mai High School, Ky Son High School and Quynh Luu 4 High School. The remaining units won the Encouragement Prize.
