Nghe An launches month of action for gender equality in 2024
On the morning of November 20, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Provincial Women's Union coordinated with the People's Committee of Quy Chau district to organize the launching ceremony of the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024.
Attending the launching ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Doan Hong Vu - Director of the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa - President of the Provincial Women's Union; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Department of Health, the Provincial Youth Union and districts, cities and towns.

On the side of Quy Chau district, there were comrades: Nguyen Thanh Hoai - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council; Lo Thanh Luan - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; Bui Van Hung - Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the District People's Committee; along with comrades of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee; representatives of district-level departments and branches; leaders and policy officers of 12 communes and towns of Quy Chau district.

In recent years, Nghe An province has been prioritizing necessary resources to synchronously implement solutions tonarrowing the gender gapin all areas of social life; significantly improve women and children's access to health services, education, employment, especially women in disadvantaged areas. Thereby, contributing to enhancing the status, role and power of women, creating favorable conditions for women to make practical contributions to the sustainable development of families, communities and society, gradually reducing inequality between men and women.

With efforts to implement the Law on Gender Equality and the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021 - 2030, up to now, the proportion of women in the province accounts for more than 50% of the workforce, contributing increasingly to the socio-economic development of the province; the proportion of female National Assembly deputies reached 30.8%; the proportion of female People's Council deputies at the provincial level reached 27.5%, at the district level reached 29.2%, at the commune level reached 28.1%; there is a 31% proportion of female business owners.

At the launching ceremony, a commitment was signed between the Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs and the People's Committees of districts; between the leaders of the People's Committee of Quy Chau district and departments, branches, communes and towns to better implement gender equality work and prevent and respond to gender-based violence by 2024.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates participated in a parade on the main roads in Quy Chau district.
