Nghe An launches the 2024 Month of Action for Gender Equality.
On the morning of November 20th, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Provincial Women's Union, in coordination with the People's Committee of Quy Chau district, organized the launching ceremony for the Action Month for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2024.
Attending the launching ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Doan Hong Vu - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs; Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa - President of the Provincial Women's Union; representatives from the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, the Department of Health, the Provincial Youth Union, and the districts, cities, and towns.

Representing Quy Chau district were: Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hoai - Secretary of the District Party Committee and Chairman of the District People's Council; Mr. Lo Thanh Luan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee; Mr. Bui Van Hung - Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the District People's Committee; along with members of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee; representatives from district-level departments and agencies; and leaders and policy officers from the 12 communes and towns of Quy Chau district.

In recent years, Nghe An province has been prioritizing the necessary resources to implement comprehensive solutions aimed atgradually narrowing the gender gapIn all areas of social life, significantly improve women's and children's access to health services, education, and employment, especially for women in disadvantaged areas. This will contribute to enhancing the status, role, and empowerment of women, creating favorable conditions for women to make practical contributions to the sustainable development of families, communities, and society, and gradually reducing gender inequality.

Thanks to the efforts in implementing the Law on Gender Equality and the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021-2030, women now account for over 50% of the workforce in the province, making increasingly significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the province; the percentage of female National Assembly deputies is 30.8%; the percentage of female People's Council deputies at the provincial level is 27.5%, at the district level is 29.2%, and at the commune level is 28.1%; and 31% of women are business owners.

At the launching ceremony, commitments were signed between the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the People's Committees of the districts; and between the leaders of the Quy Chau District People's Committee and the departments, agencies, communes, and towns to better implement gender equality and prevent and respond to gender-based violence in 2024.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates participated in a parade along the main roads in Quy Chau district.
