Nghe An villages live 'good lives and good religion'

These days, all villages where Catholics live are filled with a joyful and excited atmosphere to celebrate Christmas 2024. That joy is the crystallization of the efforts and achievements of labor with the spirit of "living a good life, living a good religion", contributing to building the homeland of Catholics in the whole province.

Unite to build life

We returned to Chau Nhan commune (Hung Nguyen) on a day close to Christmas and witnessed the bustling, joyful atmosphere of the My Du parish community. The hamlets and villages around the parish church had decorated with Catholic flags, balloons, nativity scenes, etc., ready to welcome Christmas.

The first impression when arriving in Chau Nhan is the change and prosperity of the countryside along the Lam River with straight roads and spacious houses springing up among the hamlets and villages.

Mr. Nguyen Truong Sinh - Head of the Catholic Solidarity Committee of Hung Nguyen district, member of the Pastoral Council of My Du parish said: "The parishioners in Chau Nhan mainly engage in agricultural production and small-scale handicrafts such as making rice paper, peanut candy, brewing wine, pressing peanut oil and processing products from blood worms. Recently, many families have had members go abroad to work, so their income has increased and their lives have improved in all aspects. The people actively participate in patriotic emulation movements, especially in building new rural areas, contributing to building a rich and beautiful homeland."

According to Mr. Le Khanh Quang - Chairman of Chau Nhan Commune People's Committee, in 2024, the total production value is estimated to reach nearly 440 billion VND, the economic growth rate will reach 9.3%, the average income per capita will reach: more than 56 million VND/person/year. The commune continues to implement and improve the construction criteria.new rural areas, especially criteria on education, schools, traffic infrastructure, irrigation. During the year, over 25 billion VND was invested in building works such as schools, roads, irrigation canals, etc.

The results achieved have had a great contribution from the parishioners of My Du parish. “Every Chau Nhan resident in general; every parishioner of My Du parish in particular, with the motto “A good Catholic must first be a good citizen”, always unite together, together with the Party Committee, the government and the people of the whole commune to soon successfully build a commune that meets the advanced new rural standards”, said Mr. Le Khanh Quang.

From Chau Nhan, we went to Hamlet 7, Hung Chinh Commune (Vinh City), where Vinh Giang parish is located. Vinh Giang parish belongs to Cau Ram parish, accounting for 86.8% of the population of Hamlet 7. With the motto "Respect God, love the country", harmony between religion and life, the Hamlet Management Board has coordinated with the Pastoral Council and mass organizations to gradually propagate and mobilize people to join hands in implementing the National target program on new rural construction.

Thanks to that, Hamlet 7 has had many positive changes in life and achieved positive results. Economic life has developed, Catholics of Vinh Giang in particular, and people of Hamlet 7 in general have the conditions to contribute funds and efforts to build advanced new rural criteria. Mobilizing the installation of a broadcasting system so that people can grasp the policies and guidelines of the Party, the laws of the State as well as local activities.

To ensure the living point,entertainmentFor the people, the hamlet management board mobilized each household to contribute 2 million VND to build a hamlet cultural house and to beautify the campus. Mobilized funds to build rural roads, mobilized the donation of 7,200m2 of land for road construction, each household contributed from 5 to 9 million VND, the total estimated amount was about 900 million VND to upgrade roads and cultural institutions.

With the results achieved, with faith in God, ardent patriotism and the spirit of accompanying the homeland and nation, the people of Hamlet 7 - Vinh Giang parish will maintain and promote the title of cultural unit. As the teaching of Saint Matthew: "You are the salt of the earth and the light of the world".

Accompanying the homeland

On this occasion, returning to La Nham Parish, Nghi Yen Commune (Nghi Loc), we were truly impressed by the residential areas that were planned in a neat, clean, and beautiful checkerboard pattern. La Nham Parish includes Hamlet 1 and Hamlet 2, Nghi Yen Commune (Nghi Loc), with more than 560 households and about 2,700 people. These days, along with promoting business and production, parishioners are preparing to celebrate Christmas.

In recent years, the La Nham Parish Pastoral Council has actively coordinated with Party committees and authorities to propagate and mobilize the parishioners to respond to emulation movements in labor, production,economic development, hunger eradication, poverty reduction. Many households have boldly borrowed capital for production, invested in purchasing machinery for agricultural production.

Some households have taken advantage of being close to National Highway 1A and Road D4 to expand their businesses, diversify their industries, contribute to increasing family income and enriching their hometown.

Thanks to that, many households are honored as good producers and traders with an income of around 200 million VND/year. In particular, with the spirit of mutual love and support, the parish priest and the Pastoral Council always participate in charity work, contributing and sharing with the poor and the elderly, the lonely and the unfortunate with meaningful gifts.

Responding to the movement "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", living a "good life and good religion", the people of La Nham parish contributed labor and money to build thousands of meters of concrete roads and canals in the fields. The pastoral council together with departments, branches and organizations at the commune level mobilizedparishionershand over 50 hectares of agricultural land to carry out works and projects in the area.

For the people of Dong Lam parish, Hung Son commune (Anh Son), their income is basically based on agricultural production, including growing rice, corn, sugarcane, tea and raising livestock and poultry. In particular, in recent years, industrial tea has become a key crop, helping many farming households escape poverty and many households become rich.

People's lives in all aspects are constantly improving and enhancing, many families have built spacious houses, purchased modern facilities to serve their lives. When having a stable source of income, life is improved, from there children have the conditions to study at higher levels, many children have passed the entrance exams to universities, colleges and have stable jobs.

In particular, there are households here that earn hundreds of millions of dong each year, contributing to enriching their homeland. Typical examples include Mr. Le Tien Dung with a mechanical workshop producing aluminum and glass to serve the people in the area; Mr. Nguyen Van Quy with his job of making vermicelli, cakes and developing livestock; Mr. Dinh Xuan Phu with dozens of hectares of raw tea, earning tens of millions of dong each month...

The parishioners in the area are all diligent in doing business, working in production and developing the socio-economy, and their income is increasingly improving. In particular, most of them are conscious of building a rich and civilized homeland, contributing to maintaining a peaceful and prosperous life.
