According to the indictment, around August 2023, Pham Thi Tuyet Chinh was working in China when her boss discussed bringing Vietnamese people to Laos to sell them to work for a fraudulent company, promising to pay 15 million VND/person. Chinh agreed and returned to Vietnam to find people.

Because they knew each other before, in September 2023, Chinh contacted Vy Van Nhap to ask him to find someone to take him to Laos to sell to the Chinese boss. When Nhap asked what job he would do, Chinh replied: "computer typing job, monthly salary 20 million VND, with a place to eat and sleep...". If he found the person, Chinh would pay 10 million VND for the job.

After that, Nhap invited Mr. Luong Van H. (born in 1997, residing in Chau Binh commune) to go to Laos to do light work with high salary. If anyone was looking for a job, he invited them to come with him. Therefore, Mr. H. invited 2 more friends to go with him.

In addition, Nhap also called his younger brother Vy Van L. (born in 1992), who was working in Ho Chi Minh City at that time, to invite him to Laos to do "easy work, high salary". Hearing that, the younger brother agreed and invited his roommate to go abroad.

A few days later, following the instructions of his Chinese boss, Nhap took three people to a motel in Hanoi to wait for their trip to Laos. At the same time, Nhap's younger brother and his friend also took a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to wait for their trip abroad.

On September 23, 2023, Chinh and Nhap led 5 people to take a car arranged by the Chinese boss to Laos. After that, they were taken to the Golden Triangle area, working for a company located in Myanmar.

After learning that they had been sold to a fraudulent company on the internet and not paid, the workers fled in January 2024. However, when they escaped to the Lao border area, the five continued to be tricked into working for different companies.

From January 26, 2024 to August 2024, 4 victims returned to Vietnam and filed a complaint with the police. As for one victim, the whereabouts and what he is doing are still unknown.

At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes and expressed remorse. The two defendants stated that they knew that working on computers abroad was a scam but still did it because of greed.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel sentenced Pham Thi Tuyet Chinh to 9 years and 6 months in prison, and defendant Vy Van Nhap to 9 years in prison for human trafficking.
