He sold his younger brother into a scam involving 'computer work'.
Enticed by Chinh to find people to go abroad for "computer-based work," Nhap recruited many others, including his younger brother. Subsequently, the victims were taken to the Golden Triangle area and forced to work for a fraudulent company.
On March 27, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened the first-instance trial of defendants Pham Thi Tuyet Chinh (born in 1988, residing in Giao Thuy town, Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province) and Vy Van Nhap (born in 1983, residing in Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district, Nghe An province) on charges of...Human trafficking.

According to the indictment, around August 2023, while working in China, Pham Thi Tuyet Chinh was approached by her employer about trafficking Vietnamese people to Laos to work for a fraudulent company, promising a payment of 15 million VND per person. Chinh agreed and returned to Vietnam to find people.
Because they knew each other beforehand, in September 2023, Chinh contacted Vy Van Nhap to ask him to find someone to take to Laos to be sold to a Chinese boss. When Nhap asked what kind of work it would be, Chinh replied: "It's a typing job, a monthly salary of 20 million dong, with food and accommodation provided..." If Chinh found someone, he would pay 10 million dong as a commission.
Later, Nhập persuaded Lương Văn H. (born in 1997, residing in Châu Bính commune) to go to Laos for easy work with high pay, and suggested that anyone looking for work should join. As a result, H. invited two more friends to go with him.
In addition, Nhap also called his younger brother, Vy Van L. (born in 1992), who was working in Ho Chi Minh City at the time, and told him to go to Laos for "easy work with high pay." Hearing this, his brother agreed and persuaded his roommate to go abroad with him.
A few days later, following instructions from his Chinese boss, Nhap took three people to a guesthouse in Hanoi to wait to cross into Laos. At the same time, Nhap's younger brother and a friend also took a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi to wait to leave the country.
On September 23, 2023, Chinh and Nhap led five people to a vehicle arranged by their Chinese boss to travel to Laos. They were then taken to the Golden Triangle area to work for a company located in Myanmar.
After realizing they had been sold to a fraudulent online company and were not being paid, the workers escaped in January 2024. However, upon reaching the Lao border area, the five were again tricked into working for different companies.
Between January 26, 2024 and August 2024, four victims returned to Vietnam and filed complaints with the police. The whereabouts and occupation of one victim remain unknown to this day.
At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes and expressed remorse. Both defendants testified that they knew working on computers abroad was fraudulent but still committed the crime out of greed.
After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel of judges sentenced Pham Thi Tuyet Chinh to 9 years and 6 months in prison and Vy Van Nhap to 9 years in prison for the crime of human trafficking.
