Nghe An adjusts provincial excellent student exam plan

The excellent student contest is held annually to motivate and encourage teachers and students to develop their creativity, teach well, and study well. Thereby, it aims to discover students with aptitude for the subject to create a source of training, realizing the goal of training talents for the homeland and the country.

Adjust the exam area

Regarding the excellent student exams, before the implementation of the 2-level local government, in addition to the national excellent student exam conducted according to the general instructions of the Ministry, Nghe An also implemented the provincial excellent student exam and some localities will organize the basic excellent student exam (district, city, town). During the implementation process, Nghe An province divided the teams into 2 groups, including group A and group B to distinguish schools in urban areas, plains and mountainous districts, non-public schools and vocational training centers.

Specifically, the Provincial Excellent Student Exam for Grade 12 High School includes the following subjects: Math, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, and Foreign Languages.

For 12th grade students of GDTX high school level, they will take exams in the following subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education.

According to the new regulations, for grade 12, group A includes high schools across the province. Particularly for schools: Ky Son High School, Tuong Duong 1 High School, Tuong Duong 2 High School, Con Cuong High School, Muong Qua High School, Que Phong High School, Quy Chau High School and Quy Hop 3 High School; non-public high schools, students will take the exam in group B. Grade 12 GDTX high school students will take a separate exam.

In the Provincial Excellent Student Examination for Grade 9, secondary school students will take the exams in the following subjects: Math, Natural Sciences (KHTN), Literature, History and Geography, English, French, Civic Education, and Information Technology.

In which, group A includes schools from wards and communes. Particularly for communes: Con Cuong, Mon Son, Mau Thach, Cam Phuc, Chau Khe, Binh Chuan, Muong Xen, Huu Kiem, Nam Can, Chieu Luu, Na Loi, Muong Tip, Na Ngoi, My Ly, Bac Ly, Keng Du, Huoi Tu, Muong Long, Que Phong, Tien Phong, Tri Le, Muong Quang, Thong Thu, Quy Chau, Chau Tien, Hung Chan, Chau Binh, Tuong Duong, Tam Quang, Tam Thai, Yen Na, Yen Hoa, Nga My, Huu Khuong, Nhon Mai, candidates will take the exam in group B.

Changes in school entrance exam quotas

Due to the adjustment of the commune-level government, from this school year, the Department of Education and Training has also adjusted the number of candidates allowed to take the exam at schools. For high school level, depending on the number of classes, according to the table, schools will be allowed to send from 1 to 7 candidates to take the exam/subject.

As for the two specialized schools, Vinh University High School for the Gifted and Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, if students are qualified to take the exam, they can register for the whole class.

For non-specialized subjects, Vinh University High School for the Gifted can take a maximum of 3 candidates/subject and Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted can take a maximum of 10 candidates/subject. For specialized subjects of Chinese, Japanese, and Russian, if students are qualified to take the exam, they can register for the English exam with a maximum of 50% of the specialized class.

In the 9th grade excellent student exam, wards and communes in group A with 25 or more 9th grade classes will take 1-3 candidates for each subject/content; Wards and communes in group A with 10-24 9th grade classes will take 1-2 candidates for each subject/content; Wards and communes in group A with less than 10 9th grade classes will take 1 candidate for each subject/content.

As for wards and communes in group A with high-quality key schools, they can take 8-10 candidates, depending on the number of grade 9 students in the school. For communes in group B, they can take 1-2 students/subject.

Previously, from the 2024-2025 school year, Nghe An applied bonus points for junior high school students who won provincial-level prizes or national-level excellent students when enrolling in grade 10. In particular, students who won first prize were awarded 1.5 points; second prize was awarded 1.0 points and third prize was awarded 0.5 points.

For 12th graders, the results of the provincial excellent student exam will be used to consider admission to universities.
