The story of a woman who persistently preserves Thai culture in Western Nghe An
In Block 1, Con Cuong Commune, Nghe An Province, Ms. Vi Thi Huong Cang is considered by the people to be enthusiastic in public work, with many contributions to the movements and lives of the people in the block, especially in preserving national cultural identity.
We arrived in Con Cuong commune at the right time when members of the Thai Ethnic Folk Song and Dance Club, Block 1, were practicing the program, preparing for the exchange program with other clubs in the area next October. The members were engrossed in practicing songs, dances andmusical instrument,create a vibrant atmosphere, attracting many people to cheer.
Ms. Vi Thi Huong Cang (born in 1960) - Club President is busy with work, sometimes standing up to look around, sometimes going to each person's position to adjust their dancing posture or adjust the tone of each person's song. Ms. Cang is also the one who posts notices, calls and urges members to gather at the meeting place.
Taking advantage of the break, Ms. Cang shared: “The Thai ethnic folk song and dance club was established in 2021, gathering people who are passionate and dedicated to the traditional culture of the ethnic group. Although the club has not been in operation for long, it has made certain contributions to the cultural and artistic movement and the preservation of local cultural identity.”
As a retired cadre, Ms. Vi Thi Huong Cang feels happy that the material life of the people in the block and commune is increasingly improved, most families have spacious houses with quite full amenities. What makes Ms. Cang worried is that the number of Thai ethnic people in the block is quite large but the preservation of traditional cultural identity has not received due attention.
The young generation is increasingly moving away from national culture, many people do not even know the melodies.folk songs, folk dances and musical instruments of her people. Faced with this reality, Mrs. Cang wanted to do something useful for her people and her homeland. After many days of thinking, she decided to campaign for the establishment of the Thai Folk Song and Dance Club in the area of the bloc, with the aim of preserving, promoting and spreading traditional cultural values.
Going to each house, meeting each person to mobilize and persuade, by August 2021, Ms. Cang had established a Club with 28 members, and she herself was trusted to hold the role of Chairman. In this role, Ms. Cang is responsible for drafting operating regulations, organizing monthly practice sessions (1 session/month), mobilizing funds, purchasing costumes and musical instruments for practice, exchange and performance.
Since its establishment, the Folk Song - Folk Dance Club of Block 1 has had many exchanges with clubs in the province and neighboring provinces such as Dien Bien, Son La, Lai Chau... and left a good impression. In particular, at congresses of organizations, festivals, and weddings in the commune, the Club is often invited to perform, contributing to increasing the joyful and exciting atmosphere for everyone.
Not only did she have great contributions in the formation and development of the Folk Song - Folk Dance Club, Ms. Vi Thi Huong Cang also made many contributions to the activities of the block. As the head of the Women's Association, she and the Executive Committee of the association effectively organized the activities.emulation movementsuch as: Women actively study, work, create, build happy families; build "5 no, 3 clean" families; build a fund to help each other develop the economy with an amount of 35 million VND; collect scrap for more than 19 million VND, help 2 members in difficult circumstances...
As a party member and a representative of the People's Council of the commune, Ms. Cang has done a good job in mass mobilization, closely connected with the masses, promptly grasped and reflected the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of the people. Actively participated in the activities of the Party cell, spoke up to build resolutions and action plans that were close to the practical situation of the bloc.
Comrade Vi Thi Huong Cang is a party member who always takes the lead in the movements and activities of the bloc, especially the cultural and artistic movement, and is a shining example for the people to follow. We have just received the good news that Comrade Cang will attend the 2025 Nghe An Province Patriotic Emulation Congress, which is also an honor for the Party cell and all the people in the bloc."
