'Trade Union Meal' joins hands to overcome the consequences of Typhoon No. 10

From October 1st to 3rd, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Union organized the program "Labor Union Meal - Joining Hands to Overcome the Consequences of Typhoon No. 10 (Bualoi)" at the Nghe An Guest House (No. 4, Phan Dang Luu Street, Truong Vinh Ward).

At noon on October 1st, 300 workers from the Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company participated in the program. Attendees included representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union, and the grassroots trade union. Representing the Provincial Federation of Labor was Comrade Kha Van Tam - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nghe An province, and Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor.

In the past few days,Typhoon No. 10(Bualoi) made landfall with strong and prolonged winds, uprooting trees in large numbers, sweeping away corrugated iron roofs, scattering tons of household waste haphazardly throughout the streets, and causing severe traffic congestion in many small alleys.

In response to the situation, the workforce of Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company quickly mobilized to handle the waste. In the first two days after the storm, the company deployed more than 600 workers and dozens of specialized vehicles to work through the night, collecting approximately 1,000 tons of waste each day, many times more than usual.

To demonstrate its role in supporting workers – the frontline workers in preserving the environment and urban infrastructure after the storms and floods – the Nghe An Trade Union, in collaboration with grassroots trade unions and the Nghe An Guest House, has developed the program "Trade Union Meal - Joining Hands to Overcome the Consequences of Typhoon No. 10 (Bualoi)".

Accordingly, each meal will serve 300 portions of rice (worth 50,000 VND/portion), ensuring sufficient nutrition and hygiene. The meal demonstrates the care and sharing spirit of...trade union organizationFor union members and workers directly involved in overcoming the consequences of Typhoon No. 10, this aims to boost morale, provide opportunities for members to rest and socialize after strenuous working hours, and strengthen solidarity and cohesion between union members and the trade union organization.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Kha Van Tam shared his understanding of the hardships faced by union members and workers of Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company as they continuously worked tirelessly to deal with the severe consequences of two consecutive storms. At the same time, the Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union encouraged the workers to strive and work hard to successfully complete their tasks, looking forward to the political event of the 20th Congress of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
