On the afternoon of October 28th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Staff Department announced that city police forces had coordinated to quickly track down and arrest a suspect who used a fake gun to rob property at Binh Dien Market.
Earlier, in the early morning of October 27th, the Criminal Police Department, the Mobile Police Department, and the Binh Dong Ward Police, in coordination with other professional units of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, apprehended Tran Minh Tan (born in 1990, residing in Dong Thap province) for committing robbery in the Binh Dien market area.
At approximately 4:00 AM that same day, Tan pretended to enter a stall at Binh Dien Market to buy goods, then suddenly snatched a bag containing about 100 million VND from the stall owner and fled. When the stall owner shouted and chased after him, the suspect pulled out an object resembling a gun to threaten them, but with the cooperation of many people, they were apprehended.pursuitSo the suspect threw away the bag of money and ran away into a nearby vacant lot.
Immediately after receiving the report, the Binh Dong Ward Police mobilized forces and coordinated with the Criminal Police Department and the Mobile Police Department to surround and apprehend the suspect. At approximately 9:20 AM on the same day, the police arrested Tran Minh Tan in an empty plot of land next to Binh Dien Market.
During the inspection, the authorities confiscated one motorcycle, one toy gun, and one knife.
Working with the police, Tan confessed to the robbery, stating that he committed the crime due to a lack of money. Before committing the crime, Tan brought a knife and a fake gun from home, drove to Binh Dien market looking for unsuspecting vendors to rob.
