Max Dowman's impressive performance and lightning-fast reaction, scoring two goals in five minutes, helped Arsenal thrash Girona 4-1 away at Montilivi.
Arsenal sent a strong message about their squad depth and impressive fighting spirit with a crushing 4-1 victory over Girona at the Estadi Municipal de Montilivi. Not only did Mikel Arteta's side dominate the game, but they also demonstrated their ability to cool down their opponents' momentum.
Maximum effectiveness and a sharp preemptive strike.
From the start of the match, Arsenal opted for an aggressive approach rather than spending time probing. Their flexible tactical setup allowed the visitors to completely control the spaces in the midfield, constantly forcing Girona's defense into a defensive posture.
The dominance was quickly materialized in the 16th minute. Young talent Max Dowman delivered a through pass that tore apart the opposing defense, setting up Kai Havertz to neatly finish and open the scoring. Not stopping there, in the 55th minute, Gabriel Jesus – the striker who had just come on as a substitute for Viktor Gyokeres – capitalized on an assist from Ben White to score the goal that sealed the 4-1 victory. Besides the emphatic result, the biggest highlight for Arsenal in this match was the brilliant performance of the young players and the reserve squad. Max Dowman was named Man of the Match, contributing one goal and one assist.
