In the early morning of August 1, 2025, a severe flash flood and landslide struck Hang Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune, Dien Bien province. The flash flood, carrying mud and rocks, submerged the entire area. That night, village head Mua A Thi (26 years old) bravely plunged into the raging floodwaters, calling on villagers to evacuate, carrying the elderly to safety, and saving Hang Pu Xi village from disaster.
