US investigates DeepSeek's possible use of banned AI chips

On February 1, a source familiar with the matter said the US Department of Commerce is investigating whether DeepSeek, a Chinese company whose high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) model is creating a “seismic” impact in the technology world, used US microchips that are not allowed to be shipped to China.
