(Baonghean.vn) - The absence of Pham Xuan Manh and the return of Phan Van Duc from the beginning of the second half in the match against Saigon FC in round 1 of V.League 2020 only made SLNA play better offensively. Coach Ngo Quang Truong and his team left Thong Nhat Stadium with only 1 point without scoring any goals.

In the first minutes of the match at Thong Nhat Stadium, both teams started the match quite cautiously. On SLNA’s side, the attacking situations were not really smooth because they had to face a more experienced midfield of Saigon FC.

The clearest chance of the match from the start belonged to the home team in the 14th minute. Striker Pedro Paulo almost opened the score with a flick over goalkeeper Van Hoang's head, but luckily for SLNA the ball went just wide of the goal. In the following minutes, SLNA's defense played with great determination and determination, continuously neutralizing the opponent's attacks.

In the first 25 minutes, Saigon FC's ball control rate was slightly higher than SLNA's. The game was constantly tense, with not many significant opportunities created by the two teams in the final minutes of the first half. The central midfielders such as Dinh Chau and Van Lam played close, forcing the home team to constantly pass the ball back or use long balls.

The proactive disruption of the opponent's play meant that SLNA did not have any shots on target in the first 45 minutes. The two strikers Peter Onyekachy and Alagie Sosseh did not show any understanding in their first time playing together and the two teams entered the break without any goals scored.

In the second half, midfielder Cao Xuan Thang left the field to make way for Phan Van Duc. A predictable decision by coach Quang Truong to increase the attacking momentum. This forced Ho Tuan Tai to move to the right wing position.

In the 50th minute, Saigon FC was awarded a free kick, Quoc Long sent the ball to Geovane's position but his header did not trouble goalkeeper Van Hoang. After being pressured, it was not until the 55th minute that SLNA had the first shot on target from striker Peter but it did not trouble goalkeeper Duc An.

After a series of intense matches, midfielder Dinh Chau was injured and had to leave the field, Quang Tinh was the player sent onto the field to fill in the midfield. Immediately after entering the field, Peter and Sy Nam had a chance to finish from Van Duc's attacking change, unfortunately both players failed to finish.

In the 65th minute, Saigon's goal was in turmoil. SLNA organized a very clear attack. Phan Van Duc broke through, coordinated a one-two with Tuan Tai, unfortunately his delicate left-footed pass could not overcome goalkeeper Duc An's effort to save the goal.

The match gradually drifted towards the end with a very slow tempo and low technical quality. In the 84th minute, SLNA's goal faced a dangerous counterattack. Player Vu Tin escaped very freely on the left wing but his pass did not find any teammates.

That was also the last situation of the match.

In the end, the two teams tied 0-0. With this result, SLNA temporarily ranked 8th with only 1 point.

In the opening round of V.League 2020, Hanoi FC temporarily took the lead in the rankings thanks to a 4-2 victory over Nam Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City ranked 2nd after defeating Quang Nam 3-1. Hai Phong and Viettel FC both won 1-0 to take the next positions.
