Most illiterate people live scattered in remote villages, making the literacy campaign in the highlands of Nghe An even more challenging. Amidst these difficulties, many teachers and soldiers have joined forces and shared the burden to bring literacy to the people in these mountainous regions.

Nghe An is the largest province in the country in terms of area, with a population of over 3.4 million people. Of this, ethnic minorities and people living in mountainous areas account for 36.3%, and illiteracy and relapses into illiteracy remain prevalent. Most illiterate people live scattered in remote villages, making the journey to eradicate illiteracy in the highlands of Nghe An even more challenging.
