The Quả Sơn Temple festival officially opens.

On the morning of February 17th (the 20th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake), the opening ceremony of the Quả Sơn Temple Festival 2025 was held in Bồi Sơn commune, Đô Lương district.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Hoang Van Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives from the Provincial Cultural Center and the Provincial Relics Management Board.

Representing Do Luong district were: Bui Duy Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee; Nguyen Tat Hoai Hiep - Standing Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council; Hoang Van Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee, along with a large number of local people and tourists from all over.

The Quả Sơn Temple Festival takes place over three days (February 15-17). On the evening of February 16, the Ceremony of Paying Homage to Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang was held. This ceremony was conducted according to ancient traditions to express profound gratitude to Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang for his contributions to protecting the nation and its people.

King Uy Minh Ly Nhat QuangAs the eighth son of King Lý Công Uẩn, in 1039, he was entrusted by his father to govern the Hoan Châu region. With his exceptional intelligence, in 1044, he was promoted from Marquis to Prince. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in repelling foreign invaders, expanding the territory, and developing the Hoan Châu region into a prosperous area.

In 1057, Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang passed away and was canonized at the foot of Quả Mountain, in Bồi Sơn commune, Đô Lương district. Having served as the Governor of Nghệ An for 16 years, his great contributions led to the construction of numerous temples in his honor by the people of Nghệ An and Hà Tĩnh provinces after his death. The main temple is the Quả Sơn Temple today.

Every year, the anniversary of his death is celebrated on the 17th day of the 12th lunar month, and the Quả Sơn Temple Festival takes place from the 18th to the 20th day of the 1st lunar month.

December 1998,Quả Sơn TempleIt has been recognized as a National Historical Monument. In 2019, the Quả Sơn Temple Festival was included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In recent years, with the attention and investment from higher authorities, Do Luong district has focused on investing in the renovation and upgrading of facilities to serve as cultural and spiritual centers for people near and far, as well as places for educating about the traditions of fighting against foreign invaders and building the country by previous generations. These are also cultural and spiritual tourism destinations, expressing gratitude to those who have contributed to the people and the nation.

In a solemn atmosphere, Comrade Hoang Van Hiep - Chairman of the People's CommitteeDo Luong districtThe drums were beaten to officially open the Quả Sơn Temple Festival.

Following the ceremony, delegates and citizens offered incense at the temple of Uy Minh Vương Lý Nhật Quang. Immediately afterwards, a spirited military parade took place in the temple courtyard and on the Lam River.

At Ba But Pagoda, delegates and people escorted Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang and the offerings to the courtyard for the Thanksgiving Ceremony. Following the Thanksgiving Ceremony was the procession of the sacred cross back to the palace, the procession returned to Qua Son Temple and held the Dedication Ceremony.

The festival featured lively activities including: sports competitions (volleyball, stick pushing, tug-of-war, and boat racing), performances of Nghe Tinh folk songs, making ceremonial cakes, and showcasing OCOP products.
