(Baonghean.vn) - According to legend, during the war, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang was helped by Lady But many times, showing him a good land. The annual procession to Lady But Pagoda to express gratitude is solemnly organized by the people of Do Luong according to traditional rituals.

According to legend, during his tenure as the Governor of Nghe An and the times he commanded the battles and built the country, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang was helped by Ba But, the Goddess of Mercy, so before and after each battle, he and his generals went to pray and give thanks. The two processions, water and land, gathered at Ba But Pagoda, the dragon boats anchored at the river wharf in front of the pagoda. Duc Thanh's palanquin was placed in the middle, with Dong Chinh Vuong and Duc Thanh Vuong palanquins on either side facing the pagoda. People gathered in front of the pagoda to offer incense, perform the ancient ceremony/thanksgiving ceremony, and then perform the trance ceremony. The water and land procession to thank Ba But is a traditional custom, reenacting the procession of fighting against the enemy as well as the tradition of remembering the source of drinking water of the Vietnamese people.
