Solemn opening ceremony of Qua Son Temple

On the morning of February 17 (January 20, At Ty year), in Boi Son commune, Do Luong district, the opening ceremony of Qua Son Temple Festival 2025 was held.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Hoang Van Phuc - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports; representatives of the Provincial Cultural Center and the Provincial Monument Management Board.

On the side of Do Luong district, there were comrades: Bui Duy Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Secretary of the District Party Committee; Nguyen Tat Hoai Hiep - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Council; Hoang Van Hiep - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the District People's Committee, along with a large number of people and tourists from all over.

The Qua Son Temple Festival takes place over 3 days (February 15-17). On the evening of February 16, the Ceremony of Announcing the Honor of King Ly Nhat Quang took place. The Ceremony was held according to traditional rituals to express deep gratitude to King Ly Nhat Quang for protecting the country and protecting the people.

King Uy Minh Ly Nhat Quangwas the 8th son of King Ly Cong Uan. In 1039, he was assigned by his father to govern the Hoan Chau region. With his extraordinary intelligence, in 1044, he was promoted from the title of Marquis to the title of King. During his tenure, he was the one who had the merit of repelling foreign invaders, expanding the territory, and building the prosperous development of the Hoan Chau region.

In 1057, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang died and became a saint at the foot of Qua mountain, in Boi Son commune, Do Luong district. After 16 years as the Governor of Nghe An, with his great merits and contributions, after his death, Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang was worshiped by the people of Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, many temples were built to burn incense in his memory, of which the main temple is today's Qua Son temple.

Every year, on December 17 is his death anniversary, January 18-20 is the Qua Son Temple Festival.

December 1998,Qua Son TempleRecognized as a National Historical Relic. In 2019, Qua Son Temple Festival was included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In recent years, with the investment attention of the superiors, Do Luong district has focused on investing in renovating and upgrading items to become a place for spiritual and cultural activities of people near and far, and at the same time a place to educate the tradition of fighting against foreign invaders and building the country of the ancestors. This is also a place of spiritual and cultural tourism, expressing gratitude to those who have contributed to the people and the country.

After the ceremony, delegates and people offered incense at the temple of Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang. Immediately after that, a spirited military acrobatics ceremony took place in the temple yard and on the Lam River.

At Ba But Pagoda, delegates and people carried Uy Minh Vuong Ly Nhat Quang and the offerings to the yard to perform the Thanksgiving Ceremony. After the Thanksgiving Ceremony was the ceremony of welcoming the Holy Cross back to the palace, the procession returned to Qua Son Temple and held the An Vi Ceremony.

The festival took place enthusiastically with the following contents: Sports competitions (volleyball, stick pushing, tug of war and boat racing), Nghe Tinh folk singing performances, making offerings to the gods, and introducing OCOP products.
