Nghe An General Friendship Hospital saves the life of a Lao patient with septic shock and multiple organ failure
Recently, Nghe An General Hospital saved the life of a Lao patient at high risk of death due to septic shock, multiple organ failure, urinary tract infection, and ARDS pneumonia.
February 25, Intensive Care Unit,Nghe An General Friendship Hospitaladmitted patient Aloun Sack, born in 1979. The patient lives in Khamkeuth district and is currently working in Viengthong district, Bolikhamsai province, Lao People's Democratic Republic.

The patient was referred with the diagnosis of: Vascular collapse of unknown cause; history of bilateral renal stones treated with extracorporeal lithotripsy 7 years ago; hypertension treated irregularly.
Three days earlier, Aloun Sack had a fever and felt very tired. On February 25, he lost consciousness, had low blood pressure, and was breathing rapidly. He received first aid at a district hospital in Laos and was then transferred to Vietnam.

Before the patient arrivesNghe An General Friendship HospitalIn the treatment, Nghe An Department of Health and the hospital received a request for medical support from the Department of Foreign Affairs of Bolikhamsai province for the case of patient Aloun Sack.
At the time of admission, patient Aloun Sack was in critical condition, with lethargic consciousness, rapid and shallow breathing, pale lips and extremities, low blood pressure, little urine, dry skin, and high blood lactate.
Doctors from the Emergency Department of Nghe An General Hospital intubated the patient, gave him a ventilator, maintained sedation, administered two high-dose vasopressors, performed abdominal and chest CT scans, consulted with specialists, and transferred him to the intensive care unit for further treatment.

The patient is at high risk of death. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Pham Hong Phuong - Deputy Director of Nghe An General Hospital, the Intensive Care Department organized a hospital-wide consultation with specialized departments.
Doctors diagnosed: The patient had septic shock, multiple organ failure SOFA 12 points, urinary tract infection, ARDS pneumonia... Indications for the patient to be placed on advanced mechanical ventilation to protect the lungs, sedation, maintenance of two high-dose vasopressors, arterial catheter placement for continuous blood pressure monitoring, non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, fluid replacement, continuous ultrafiltration combined with hemofiltration, comprehensive care, nutrition via tube.

After 7 days of intensive treatment, patient Aloun Sack was taken off continuous dialysis, stopped using the ventilator, and had his endotracheal tube removed. His heart and respiratory functions were stable, his kidneys recovered well, his general condition improved, and he was eligible for discharge. By the morning of March 11, patient Aloun Sack had fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
