(Baonghean.vn) - The Vinh River, in the past, was a place where all the economic, political, and cultural elements of the Yen Truong - Ke Vinh area – the old names of Vinh – converged. At that time, the Vinh River flowed through the central area of Vinh town. On the north bank of the Vinh River was where the French colonial administration established its consulate. The riverbank also served as the gateway to the Vinh citadel moat. At that time, Vinh Market – the largest commercial center for buying, selling, and exchanging goods in Nghe An and the surrounding area – was also established alongside the river. Today, in the trend of development, the Vinh City People's Committee has undertaken a detailed planning project to renovate and upgrade the Vinh River on both banks. According to the plan, the Vinh River renovation and upgrading project will be implemented starting in 2024.
