(Baonghean.vn) - After experiencing SUP paddling to watch the sunrise at Cua Lo beach, all the young people who participated for the first time affirmed: This is an addictive experience and not to be missed when visiting the coastal city of Cua Lo.

One weekend morning, precisely at 4:30 AM, while it was still dark and the dawn was beginning to cast a plum-colored glow, about 30 young people from the Nghe An Floating Club (37 SUP Club) gathered at parking lot number 5, next to Binh Minh Square, Cua Lo town. Besides the regular members, today the group included many young people who were experiencing SUP for the first time. Beforehand, the group leaders and deputy leaders had checked the weather forecast and given the new members advice regarding health, clothing, and the itinerary. (Photo: Diep Thanh)

Before setting sail, the group members prepare together, including unloading SUPs from the vehicle, inflating them, attaching paddles, distributing life jackets, and packing belongings. Meanwhile, team leader Nguyen Ho Manh gathers first-time participants to explain techniques and precautions for SUP paddling, such as: how to use the SUP, fins, paddles, how to sit and stand on the SUP, and what to do if you fall into the water. While not requiring extensive skills, Manh specifically emphasizes that new members must always wear life jackets, even if they know how to swim, and always tie their legs to the tail of the SUP. SUP (Stand-up Paddleboarding) is the name of a type of stand-up paddleboard used for moving on water. Modern SUP first appeared in Hawaii in the 1990s. With its simplicity, convenience, and flexibility, this sport quickly became popular and loved all over the world. Requiring minimal skill, all you need is an inflated SUP board and a paddle, and you can enjoy the exhilarating feeling of gliding effortlessly across the waves.

Besides the personal SUPs of its members, the Nghe An Floating Club also invests in a number of spare SUPs for new members to experience, at a fee of 200,000 VND per ride. It is known that the purchase price of a new SUP ranges from 7 to 30 million VND depending on the type. For young people who love "checking in" and taking photos, a mobile phone is an indispensable item on their trip. That's also why members should purchase a waterproof phone case beforehand. The feeling of sailing out to sea, even in a small boat, excites many young people. Even tourists swimming in the sea seem to enjoy it and want to experience it.

You may have watched the sunrise from the beach many times, but watching it from a SUP (stand-up paddleboard), amidst the vast waves and shimmering sunlight, is a completely different experience. Moreover, this "swimming towards the sun" journey is not simply a sightseeing trip, but also a fascinating challenge for each individual. Photo: Diep Thanh

SUPs are designed like inflatable floats, so both men and women can easily carry them to the sea. SUPs are lowered to knee-deep water to avoid breaking the underside fins. SUP paddling is not only a recreational activity but also an excellent health-boosting sport suitable for all ages. Photo: Diep Thanh

The calm wind and gentle waves gave the "experience boat trip" a much smoother start than expected. With this weather, participants could easily steer their paddles in the right direction, and even relax on their SUPs in various positions – standing, sitting, kneeling, lying down… Photo: Diep Thanh

Notably, today's trip included two young children, aged only 7 and 10. Fully equipped, both were enthusiastic throughout the journey and showed no signs of fatigue. Photo: Diep Thanh

A spiritual feast unfolded amidst the choppy waves, guided by the principle of personal safety and environmental protection. Some chose to enjoy a light breakfast of pre-prepared pastries and drinks, others took the opportunity to swim, while still others chatted or lay on their SUPs listening to music… Photo: Diep Thanh

With their extensive experience, veteran members of the Nghe An Floating Club proactively supervise and provide timely support to new members in all situations. At a suitable distance and time, the whole group stops paddling and together fully enjoys the fresh, peaceful atmosphere of the early morning sea. Photo: Diep Thanh

Bringing together many young people who share a passion for SUP paddling, the Nghe An Floating Club was established in 2020 with the regular participation of about 30 members. Besides weekends, members also paddle together on weekdays when the weather is nice. In addition to SUP paddling, the club also organizes many other meaningful community activities. It is known that, interspersed with these sightseeing trips, the club also regularly organizes more challenging trips such as paddling to Ngư Island, SUP paddling competitions among veteran members… All are based on time and weather conditions to ensure the health and safety of the members. Around 6 a.m., as the sun began to warm up, the group decided to paddle towards the shore. The appearance of the brightly colored SUPs attracted the attention of many tourists. Photo: Diep Thanh

Before returning home, the participants took turns cleaning their SUPs, removing fins and paddles, and tidying up their equipment. After the SUP paddling experience at sunrise on Cua Lo beach, all the young people who participated for the first time shared the same sentiment: They will definitely do it many more times! “We aspire to build a stronger club, firstly to share our passion and improve our health, and secondly to develop this sport as a unique tourist experience in Cua Lo. With new and youthful experiences, tourists visiting Cua Lo will have more options for their trips,” shared Mr. Nguyen Ho Manh, Team Leader of the Nghe An Floating Club. Photo: Diep Thanh
