ASEAN continues to be a beacon of peace amid turmoil
On the afternoon of July 9, continuing his working program in Malaysia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son attended the closed session of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, focusing on reviewing and orienting ASEAN's foreign relations and discussing international and regional issues of mutual concern.
Vietnam delimits seas with neighboring countries according to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982)
On April 30, 1982, the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea was adopted in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Socialist Republic of Vietnam was one of 107 countries that signed the Convention. On June 23, 1994, our National Assembly issued a Resolution on the ratification of this important legal document. Point 1 of the Resolution clearly stated that by ratifying the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam expressed its determination to work with the international community to build a fair legal order, encouraging development and cooperation at sea.
The Prime Minister suggested that ASEAN and the EU take peace as the goal and consider dialogue as a tool.
