Improving consumer trust is a major challenge for many businesses today.

Many people are unaware of March 15th.

Of these, over 23% of complaints concerned the quantity, quality, and delivery time of goods, representing the highest percentage among violations of consumer rights.

Typical examples include: false advertising through phone-based voucher giveaways by Thai Duong Xanh company; selling products that do not match the promised content through websites, television sales programs, and Facebook. Many online shopping websites exploit online purchasing to deliver goods that do not match the advertised information…

These incidents demonstrate that consumer rights are being increasingly and seriously violated. This not only harms consumers but also damages the reputation and brand image of businesses.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Chi, Head of the Women's Club for Consumers under the Vietnam Retailers Association, expressed: Consumers urgently need information from businesses and manufacturers to identify the origin and source of goods. Businesses provide consumers with quality products and ensure that goods not only have brand recognition domestically but also reach consumers abroad. This is a balance between production and consumption. The role of businesses and traders is essential; this is what ensures the quality that consumers desire.

Currently, many rights are being promoted to protect legitimate interests and build consumer trust, primarily: "the right to use safe products; the right to information about products; and the right to choose." Businesses, on the other hand, must understand consumer psychology, paying particular attention to criteria such as: products that guarantee quality, are neatly packaged, have clear origins, are reasonably priced, and have attractive designs.

As Vietnam integrates into ASEAN and signs numerous free trade agreements, consumer goods from countries in the region flood the market, putting considerable pressure on Vietnamese products. Therefore, building customer trust is crucial. This is also a concern for many large, established businesses in the market.

Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Ladoda Joint Stock Company, shared: "In the current context, gaining consumer trust is a very difficult issue. We are always concerned about how to ensure that the products reaching consumers are truly our company's products, products of the highest quality. With this criterion, the company will strive to bring the highest quality products to the market and provide the best service to consumers…"

Although the Consumer Protection Law has been in effect for many years, its implementation has revealed many limitations: businesses or individuals do not prioritize product quality, and for profit, they are willing to "circumvent the law" and violate regulations on consumer protection...

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Standards and Consumer Protection, advises: Consumers have a responsibility to fulfill their obligations according to the law. Besides their rights, they have two obligations: they must carefully examine goods before purchasing them regarding origin and quality.

Furthermore, according to Mr. Hung, consumers must ensure environmental protection and practice a culture of saving resources. When violations are discovered, they have a responsibility to report them to the State authorities and businesses so that appropriate measures can be taken.

At the recent launch ceremony of "Vietnam Consumer Rights Day," Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh called for the participation of the entire society in protecting consumer rights with the goal of building a prosperous and civilized society, and a healthy and sustainable business and consumption environment.

The Minister hopes that businesses will assert themselves by fulfilling their obligations to best ensure the legitimate rights of consumers, transforming consumer needs and aspirations into a driving force for competition and business development.
