Of these, over 23% of cases reflect on quantity, quality, and delivery time, accounting for the highest rate of violations of consumer rights.
Typical cases include: false advertising through the form of winning gift vouchers via phone of Thai Duong Xanh company; Selling products not as committed through websites, sales programs on TV, Facebook. Many sales websites take advantage of online shopping to deliver products not as advertised....
These cases show that consumer rights are increasingly being seriously violated. This not only causes damage to consumers but also affects the reputation and brand of businesses.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Chi, Head of the Women's Consumer Club under the Vietnam Retailers Association, said: Consumers really need information from businesses and manufacturers to identify the origin of goods. Businesses provide consumers with quality products and ensure that the goods are not only domestically branded but also reach foreign consumers. This is the balance between production and consumption. The role of businesses and traders is very necessary, this is what ensures the quality that consumers desire.
Nowadays, there are many rights that are put forward to protect legitimate rights and create trust for consumers, mainly: "the right to use safe products; the right to be informed about products; the right to choose". On the business side, it is necessary to grasp the psychology of consumers, in which it is necessary to pay attention to the criteria: products with guaranteed quality, neatly packaged, clear origin, reasonable price, good quality, beautiful design...
In the process of Vietnam integrating into ASEAN and signing many free trade agreements, consumer goods from countries in the region are flooding in, putting a lot of pressure on Vietnamese goods, so creating trust for customers is extremely necessary. This is also an issue that many large, branded businesses in the market are still struggling with.
Mr. Tran Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director of Ladoda Joint Stock Company shared: "In the current context, gaining the trust of consumers is a very difficult problem. We always wonder how to make sure that the products delivered to consumers are truly the company's products, truly the highest quality products. With such criteria, the Company will now strive to bring to the market the highest quality products and best serve consumers..."
Although the Law on Consumer Protection has been in effect for many years, its implementation has revealed many limitations: businesses or individuals do not attach importance to product quality, and for profit are willing to "circumvent the law" and violate regulations on consumer protection...
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Association for Standards and Consumer Protection, recommends: Consumers need to be responsible for fulfilling their obligations according to the law. In addition to rights, there are two obligations, which are to carefully examine the origin and quality of goods before purchasing.
Besides, according to Mr. Hung, consumers must ensure environmental protection or consumer culture should be economical. When detecting violations, they must be responsible for reporting to State agencies and business organizations for handling measures.
At the launching ceremony of "Vietnam Consumer Rights Day" recently held, Minister of Industry and Trade Tran Tuan Anh called for the participation of the whole society in protecting consumer rights with the goal of building a prosperous, civilized society, a healthy and sustainable business and consumption environment.
The Minister hopes that businesses will assert themselves by best performing their obligations to ensure the legitimate rights of consumers, turning the needs and aspirations of consumers into the driving force for competition and development of businesses.
