(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12th, at Binh Minh Square, Cua Lo town, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in coordination with the People's Committee of Cua Lo town, organized a ceremony to launch the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health.

Attending the event were Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of departments and agencies and local leaders.

This year's Occupational Safety and Health Month theme is: "Proactively preventing and controlling hazardous and harmful factors in the workplace to reduce occupational accidents and diseases"; aiming to widely disseminate information and raise awareness about measures to prevent and control hazardous and harmful factors in the workplace; creating a positive change in the awareness and sense of responsibility of all levels, sectors, businesses, and workers.

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Le Minh Thong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - highly appreciated the attention of all levels, sectors, and production and business units in ensuring occupational safety and health; contributing to ensuring the health and safety of workers, creating momentum to promote the socio-economic development of the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee noted: However, occupational safety and health work in units and enterprises still has some limitations and does not meet the requirements; state management of occupational safety and health at some levels and sectors has not been invested in or given adequate attention; working conditions in small and medium-sized enterprises and craft villages have not improved much…

Therefore, occupational accidents and diseases remain complex, tend to increase, and cause significant losses in terms of human lives and property.

In 2017, the province experienced 29 workplace accidents, resulting in 9 deaths and 20 serious injuries.

At the launching ceremony, on behalf of the Occupational Safety and Health Council, Comrade Le Minh Thong requested that departments, agencies, and businesses in the area focus on directing and implementing the following tasks:

Organize activities in response to the Occupational Safety and Health Action Month in a practical, meaningful, and appropriate manner; Strengthen state management of occupational safety and health.

Regularly disseminate information, provide training, and conduct workshops on occupational safety and health to raise awareness among employers and employees.

Strengthen inspection and monitoring of the implementation of legal regulations on occupational safety and health…
